Red XIII started his descent from the second floor at a light trot, but--as anyone who has a four-legged pet will know--gravity and downward slopes are not the quadruped's friend, and he quickly ended up hopping down it in half-leaping strides to try and keep his balance without falling on his face. This kept up until he reached the bottom of the stairs, where he slowed back down to a normal walk, pausing midstep to look back up the stairs worriedly. He'd been hoping to find Courtney back up in that brown bedroom, but while he'd found what he'd assumed were her food stores--they'd certainly smelled of her, very much so--he hadn't seen her.

He couldn't really say he hadn't seen or hair of her, though, since he had found some of her hair on the bed.

Resigned to not knowing what had happened to her for now, the fiery-furred warrior loped unhappily through the gallery room and towards the grand room, flaming tailtip bobbing rhythmically behind him.

Sekai was musing to herself as she wandered, hand rested on her stomach for a moment longer as she made her way into the grand room. She hadn't explored much of that greenhouse area, so maybe that would be next...

She paused as she was snapped out of her thoughts by the sound of...footsteps, it sounded like making their way into the room. Not quite - but still close. She glanced in the direction...and stopped when she saw something that resembled some kind of strange, large animal - not quiet like anything she'd seen before, and with a flame, and...she instantly remembered hearing about the monsters, upon arrival into the house. She was obviously wary for a moment, before she straight up asked, before it could get too close.

"...are you some kind of monster?"

Red XIII smelled Sekai before he saw her--specifically, he smelled an unfamiliar human female of relatively young age and some other details, and then he had a face to put with her smell.

Then he had a rather insulting question. He stopped.

Actually, it wasn't that insulting, just tactless-given the circumstances, he completely understood. He hadn't seen this girl before, but it was safe to bet that she... either had not just arrived or else came from a world where monsters were very common...

"Um..." The problem was that he didn't have much of an answer for that. By some definitions, yes, he probably could be. But... "Well, not really. I tend to think of myself as a person," he replied as gracefully as possible.

Sekai paused as the thing in front of her actually replied - she hadn't been expecting words, per se, and especially not ones that were clearly understandable. But they were at least reassuring, in nature.

She visibly relaxed, a little bit, and smiled weakly to the four legged...person, apparently, in front of her, hand dropping fully to her side, now, and tugging at her skirt a little bit. "Oh. Well that's cool, then!"

She paused for only a second more, before deciding to move close, to get a better look at him.

Red XIII almost took a step back but instead stayed where he was, trying not to let his personal feelings get the better of him. He was, secretly a little sad and rather hurt by her question, but he also knew he couldn't expect her not to--he just wished... well, at least she hadn't gone at him with a shovel like that man in Gongaga Village. It bothered him a little that it was such a human world, and that he was not part of it. He was proud to be what he was, proud of his heritage and proud to be a warrior... he just wanted to... not be taken for something hoprrifying every time he turned a corner. It was frustrating. Her sudden and... relatively easy acceptance of his benign nature surprised him, though, and he watched her come up on him with his one good eye, letting her take a good look at him, as much as it hurt her pride. That weak smile... she had been under some stress, he noted.

The warrior tried to be comforting... or at least friendly. "I'm sorry if I startled you... what is your name, if I may ask? I'm Nanaki."
