Sitting cross legged beside the bed, Rayne was mentally going over how much more cloth there was from the lone butler and maid outfits she had taken from the Maid's Quarters earlier in the day. A simple while shirt with as few frills as she could manage had already been made, while Namine's new pants were nearly halfway complete. A jacket would be definitely possible, but past that, Rayne wasn't sure of what else to make. She had never made clothes for anyone else before, after all, much less anything other than the clothes she had worn in the past, and she was sure than Namine wouldn't want anything like that ( ... )

Namine tensed at the touch, although it seemed almost impossible, considering how tightly she was curled up. She lifted her head just long enough to peer at Rayne with eyes that were at first fearful, then calmed slightly with recognition. She let her head fall back to rest on her knees, not pulling away, but also not acting on her impulse to cling to the nearest living creature, which happened to be her roommate.

After a deep, shuddering breath, the girl let out a tiny, muffled, "...Hi." as if she were unsure what else she could or should say.

Nearest living creature indeed. "Hi." Rayne softly replied, not moving for worry of startling Namine, or sending some sort of wrong message. This whole thing was new to her. Offering comfort in a situation like this was foreign to her, especially to someone who she viewed as... Well, a child. She knew how her mother acted towards her, when she was near Namine's age, but Rayne didn't feel like she should act motherly towards the younger girl. She wasn't her mother, or much of a mother figure at all. An older sister maybe.

"Have a nightmare?" It was an obvious question, but it seemed appropriate.

Namine paused for a moment, and then nodded as best she could with her face pressed against her knees. It couldn't have been hard to figure out, with the way she'd just started out of sleep. She wasn't even sure why she'd been so scared of a dream. Just... a dream. Just a dream. She had to keep telling herself that, even though she knew it couldn't have been anything else.

Just a dream, just a dream, just... agh, she needed to stop thinking about it, to stop playing that moment when she looked in the mirror and her reflection was Kairi over and over and over again in her mind. It was like a punch to the gut, even when it was only in her memory. She... she needed something to distract her, anything to distract her.

"Rayne," she said suddenly, sitting up a little. "...Tell me a story." Her voice sounded strained, her distress sapping away her usually more shy, polite nature. It was only after a moment that she realized her mistake and added a quieter, "Please."

Rayne tensed slightly at the request, brow furrowing in confusion. Story? Like... a bedtime story, or fairy tale, or what? The only 'fairy tales' she knew were the original ones, which had rightfully been clipped and censored to be told to children. Surely, the original Cinderella where the stepsisters cut off parts of their feet and were then eaten alive bu vultures was not what Namine wanted to hear.

"...What kind of story?" She asked after a moment, still befuddled. Perhaps she could just make something up off the top of her head.
