Everything felt strangely weightless. Anna's consciousness drifted and whirled as the room spun around her, even as her body seemed hopelessly weighed down; she felt dazed and dizzy and a little out of sorts--confused, but not hurt. She groaned quietly as she cracked open her eyes, squinting a little against the light. It was still night, unfortunately--that much she could tell from the window, despite the light. That thought was enough to worry her a little, and she struggled to push herself up into a sitting position so she could look over the tops of the boxes and trunks around her and see where she was.

The attic. Why was she in the attic? She hadn't been anywhere near the attic. She had fallen--fainted--no. No, no, no.... She had died.... She had died. She remembered that. She remembered the pain, and her head.... her head. Anna's stomach twisted with sudden nausea at the memory, and she gingerly lifted a hand to touch her face and head to make sure they were alright, the other hand staying firmly planted on the ground to brace herself and support her own weight. Nothing hurt, everything seemed to be intact, and there was no blood....

Bewildered, she looked around for some kind of explanation, seeing only the containers that had always (and only) been in the attic, some stockpile of food and water, and some pieces of furniture that had to have been dragged upstairs by someone. Nothing but basic stored things and girls..... wait. Girls? What were two girls doing in here? As heavy as her head felt, she would have welcomed just forgetting about it and going back to sleep, but now was not the time.
