she should have died hereafter )
She hadn't seen anyone else in the room - well, of course not, being blinded as she was. She'd simply assumed that she was alone, and safe from attack. Reckless and foolish, she realized. Ah, a message that Solovet would have pounded into her head. Had this person been an enemy, she would surely be dead, and due only to her own carelessness.
She opened her eyes carefully, blinking in a futile effort to dispel the dark haze that covered her sight. With one hand still hovering protectively in front of her face, she turned her head slightly, to face the direction she thought the voice had come from. The person who'd spoken - Luxa was fairly certain he was male, but he spoke -
"Overlander?" The word was more like an intake of breath than speech; and instinctively Luxa's hand went to the sword on her hip. It couldn't be Gregor, nor his father. And were he an Underlander he would no doubt be as susceptible to the light as she. He hadn't attacked her yet, that was true, but she had already made the mistake of believing she was alone. She would not pay for another one with her life.
Her eyes narrowed blindly at the part of the haze that was most likely to be the Overlander, and her fingers tightened around the hilt of the admittedly battered sword. "... Who are you?"
