Warnings: Baaww. Death. Baaww. Etc.

Reacting to fear - the only natural reaction when faced with something unpleasant, scary, dangerous. Especially for a girl like her.

Of course Sekai realised it was night. There was something almost unmistakable about it, after so many months stuck in the house, that it was impossible not to notice. Like an internal clock, or dreadful feeling in your stomach or something like that. So she reacted the way she should - with fear. She kept herself holed up in her room, despite how impossible she knew it would be in the long run. It might have been irrational, but as near as she could tell her room was safe, so long as she kept her door closed, stayed safe inside. But despite the fear, boredom and anxiety both arose, making her stir crazy and desperate. Desperate for a little change in scenery, or something. But it wasn't safe outside. She didn't know how, but she knew it - though how could she ever trust a night in this place, after everything? This place made her sick, for so many reasons. She hated it here, hated it, hated it, hated it hated ithated ithatedit. Sure good had come of it - sure it had its perks... but it was a hell hole. After what she'd seen and what she'd done, she wasn't sure she could ever come to even consider calling this place home.

Her leg still throbbed to walk on.

Sekai couldn't sit still any longer, and so she made her mistake - though sooner or later she'd have had to move anyway. She looked into her closet, for some different. That was when she saw them. Corpses of some kind. Writhing and moaning, bizarre corpses that didn't even look completely like humans, but they were still some kind of rotting mess. Sekai felt sick. Sekai felt afraid. But they didn't attack, no she couldn't, and luckily too. Fear had frozen her, for a moment, but now she realised it was okay. The corpses couldn't attack her, they were immobile. She reached a hand forward - but just as quickly a combination of fear and pain caused her to recoil, falling to the floor with a disarming wince.

Blood.

Her hand was bloodied, because something - something had bit it, torn a chunk off. Had she reacted any slower, she might not have gotten away. There was blood on the corpses. And if that wasn't bad enough, Sekai saw something else - something caught her eye, and so she looked in the mirror. And there stood a man, perfectly still, behind her. A man with no face. And so Sekai stood petrified for a long moment, not even aware of the faint pounding noise outside. She was just transfixed for a long moment, staring in fright at the man who was apparently behind her. Until he started to raise his knife. So Sekai reacted again - with fear, again. She spun around violently, and even though she saw nothing, she scrambled away, on all fours, trying to get as far away as fast as possible. She leapt onto her feet, ignoring the pain in her leg and her hand, and ran to her door, throwing it open and bursting into the hall. More like stumbling into the hall, a point that was important - because Sekai's racing heart would open skip a few more beats as the fear and panic rose inside her.

There were dogs coming.

Huge, monstrous dogs that were quite obvious ravenous, quite obviously not friendly.

Sekai turned to run, but of course she wouldn't last long. She heard the sound of giant paws hitting the floor, one after another after another, chasing her down relentlessly, closing in on her at a terrifying pace that she could not dream of keeping ahead of.

Her leg still throbbed to walk on.

It wasn't long before she slipped and fell - and then there was pain - and then there was blackness - and then she was awake in the attic, delirious and confused. It took her a long time - a long, long time - to piece together what had happened, what had gone on, but eventually she did. She realised that she had died.

For a long time, she just sat there and cried.
