Characters: Mello, Art Enthusiast, Needle Woman
Setting: Blue Kitchen
Time: Day 015
Summary: Mello's concerning chocolate addiction helps him run into some people.
Warnings: None, really.

As much as he would have preferred not to be at this place right now, Mello was starting to realize somewhere in the back of his mind that he had to admit-- well, okay, he probably never would admit it-- that maybe, as of now at least, before anything awful started happening, it wasn't so terrible. It wasn't as if the whole situation he'd been in his... previous life had been so wonderful that he was incredibly reluctant to leave it behind. If Mello had been a bit more optimistic, he could have-- at least at this point in his stay here-- thought of this whole thing as a nice little break from reality. He could have figured that, in all honesty, he wouldn't exactly have had more than a few seconds of life to... look forward to had he not fallen here, and perhaps this was just a nice little extra adventure that had absolutely no relation to how much of a falilure the whole damn point of his existence had been.

But Mello was not an optimist, and he was certainly not about to let himself believe even for a moment that his stay here would ever amount to be anything but awful. And perhaps he had good reason; from what he had heard, it didn't sound as though this would be getting anything but worse.

One thing he had to admit was positive about this place was that he'd actually found an adequate supply of chocolate, thus, his addiction wouldn't have to suffer here. And, even better, this place actually had decent chocolate. Ever since he'd blown himself up and gone relatively broke, he'd been living off cheap stuff from the supermarket-- and the cheapest kinds there, for that matter. After having been spoiled with whatever kinds of quality chocolate he desired for a year or so, he'd realized that it nearly made him sick to be forced to live with that waxy, under-conched crap, and he'd found that, most of the time, he wasn't even able to take more than a few bites of a bar before discarding it. So when he'd found out the kitchen of this place actually had chocolate that was quite a bit better than the atrocity that had been forced on him for the past couple of months, he couldn't deny that he was relieved at the very least.

Needless to say, he'd been allowing himself to become somewhat spoiled again; he had been, for the most part, snacking on however much chocolate he desired whenever he felt it necessary. Granted, he'd been eating real food as well-- as one couldn't really survive on an entire diet of chocolate, not that he would have minded if he could-- but it had been quite pleasurable to have a rather constant supply of decent chocolate again. Recently, he hadn't exactly had much to do to distract him from continuously getting more whenever he felt the slightest bit hungry; so, upon waking up from a rather long nap and noticing that he was, in fact, very hungry, he couldn't help but to be slightly confused as to hell that had happened for about a second before it occurred to him that his stomach must have emptied out while he'd been asleep, and he needed more damn chocolate right now. And so he practically sprinted to the kitchen and began searching through the freezer in frenzy.

It might have been possible that he'd been enjoying this whole chocolate thing a little too much, but that didn't quite dawn on him. At least there was something about all this worth enjoying.
