Characters: Nina Tucker and Every Monster trying to Eat her (But especially Machi)
Setting: Going down the stairs
Time: Night 015
Summary: Nina dies horribly. Utter lack of cute.
Warnings: Blood
She had waited with Gale, leaning against the door, listening to him shuffle around. Silent and just providing another presence, someone to wait with him. Her lip was caught between her teeth, but she was silent, worrying it as she waited with him.
She heard him die. It was probably the most horrific experience in her young life. She listened to her friend break and cry and die. Bones snapped, and she couldn't do anything. She couldn't even go get an adult to help him. Because all the adults were dying again too. She buried her face in her bear's fur, trying not to cry. Trying not to sob and break down. Because Gale was breaking, and she needed to sit with him so he wouldn't be alone.
Because he shouldn't be alone.
Only when the last of the light had faded, and all she could hear was Gale's sobs, did Nina start to cry, tiny convulsive sobs that shook her entire body but made no noise.
The bear made an effective tear catcher as she hunched around it, sobbing helplessly.
Gale was dead. Aiden and Allison were dead. March and everyone were dead. Her friends were all gone because the bad doctors wanted to hurt them. She sobbed, a tiny vocal thing as she scrambled to her feet. Night meant she had to find her adults, and stay with them, because bad things might be out and might be trying to hurt people.
It was an accident, eyes filled and blinded by tears, small hands missing a banister set high for an adult. She only fell half a dozen steps, cracking her head and blacking out for a second.
It was long enough for her face to be covered in blood.
Head wounds had a tendency to bleed spectacularly.
Her bear had been lost in the tumble, laying sideways on the second step, black eyes staring down at the scene.
