It had been a week. One of the most miserable and disgusting weeks of his life…save, probably, for the indeterminable slice of eternity he had spent in the Phantasms care. It had been a week. And he was still tired, his hand and face were still hot to the touch. But morning had come to Acedia; morning had come and he wanted to see the sunrise. He couldn’t make it to the greenhouse, didn’t have the strength to make it all the way down the stairs again. But he could make it the Observatory. He didn’t have the strengths to make his steps louder to guide Break, but his breathing was still rough and choppy and probably just as good, if not better, at revealing his location as footsteps would be.
He was tired.
But he wanted to see a real sunrise.
Luffy slipped back and forth between Break and Watanuki, cautious on tender paws, but not wanting to be left behind, no matter how comfortable his nest was. He wasn’t sure where they were going, but he wanted to go with and see what Watanuki was doing this for.
Almost automatically, he slipped between Watanuki and the door frame he was about to run into, forcing him to take a sloppy step sideways, but at least not hurt himself by running into it.
It may have been a broken little party that made it’s way to the observatory. But they made it.
Watanuki couldn’t help but draw a breath relief when he realized that somehow, inexplicably, this room had heat. He tightened his arms around the blankets, walking forward to press his forehead to the glass. The sky was just starting to turn pink.
