Characters: Edward Elric, anyone else who wants to drop in. Setting: The Grand Room Time: Day 002, Late Afternoon Summary: Edward debates where he should stay for sunset... Warnings: Ed's mouth, as usual.
Alphonse had, over the past while, come to realize that the others had certainly meant it when they spoke of the time the way they had - though that rose the question of what they had meant about the monsters. Could that possibly be true, as well? He didn't want to just brush it off, but it still seemed unreasonable...even with how...weird and creepy this place was turning out to be.
Fortunately he had found the kitchen, gotten himself properly fed, and had found a place to rest for a good while. So he was fully energized - considering the hour, anyway. Though because of the light finally beginning to fade, his body and instincts were trying to tell him that this was a good time to think about heading to bed.
He had managed to search for a while, as well - though not nearly as much as he had wanted to. He'd ended up spending most of his time away from people, and just exploring and figuring out this odd house, instead. He'd come across some rather...unsettling things, and discovered that, no, alchemy was not any sort of help around

There was a solid "oof!" that was forced out of his chest as Al grabbed onto him, and grabbed tight. Alphonse. Al He was here and he was alive and...
Oh God.
The next sound was next to a sob as he embraced Al in return, clutching him close. It was Al. Really him...here in front of him... Alive and well, and warm. He even smelled the same as Ed remembered him...
Alphonse clung to his brother tight, face buried into his chest, grinning and laughing and crying like the little kid he really was, now. Just clinging to him, and not wanting to let go.
"I've finally found you..."
He was just so happy and overwhelmed by this - he had found his brother, and they were finally together...
But...
He seemed to realize something, and pulled back just a little, to look up at him, curiously.
His Al... his little brother... after so long of worrying that he wasn't okay...that he had failed somehow...here he was alive and real and...
He pulled back to get a look at Al. This was...more than a little bit strange. Al should have been...most likely around Alfons's height. What had happened...?
"What do you mean, why am I so big?! Why're you so little?"

The footsteps behind him ended abruptly.
And then...that feeling. Eyes staring at him. Edward tensed... and expecting the worst, turned around...
Only to stare in response.
Oh, God. This had better have been a dream. Or else...it was a cross between a dream and a nightmare.
The hair...longer now, almost as long as his own... those eyes... that face... so much like their mother's.
"A--"
He choked on the syllables. Trembling, he swallowed once. Twice. And tried again.
"A-Al...phonse...?"

There was no way that someone who looked so much like him and knew his name couldn't be him.
It was...
It was his brother.
Completely oblivious to Edward's worries, his eyes just wide for another moment, before he smiled brightly - it was his brother!
He wouldn't even let himself think of the possibilities that it wasn't, or that anything was wrong - it was Edward, he finally saw him, and...
"Brother!"
And he couldn't contain himself - he just kept grinning before starting up into a running, and throwing his arms around Edward's shoulders.

"Al... All...It's really...really you."
He was crying. But he couldn't help it.
