Sanji's throat didn't hurt anymore, but he could help but keep rubbing the spot where those things had . . .

He frowned. This sucked. This really effing blew. He thought he'd be okay as long as he had his hands so he could still cook but this was so different.

His voice? They really had to take away his voice?

He took a few steps, watching as the others around him disbursed. He thought he saw a familiar mop of black, curly hair. His eyes widened and he opened his mouth to speak, the shock of seeing one of his crewmates for the first time in what felt like months making him forget he couldn't call out Usopp's name. He looked again and didn't see him.

It probably wasn't Usopp anyways.

That was when he heard it - Story's voice. It was faint, but it was definitely her.

"Of course I'll help you. Stay by me and I'll make sure no one hurts you, okay, Story-chwan?"He'd promised to protect her - even if he didn't have his voice, he still had his legs. He scanned the room for her, finally getting a glimpse of his jacket wrapped around ( ... )

Story felt a gentle hand lift her face and was all too happy when it was Sanji who greeted her. Story smiled at him and, against her usual nature, leaned forward to embrace him. It was clumsy though, her limbs were starting to get weak and uncoordinated but she hugged him regardless. "I am glad that you are okay," She whispered and she felt waves of agreement come from him. He had been concerned and still was. Story pulled back and using Sanji as a balance, managed to pull her shaky legs beneath her.

"I need to use a shower," Story said quietly as if to explain her sudden and klutzy motion. "I've been out of water too long..."

Sanji wasn't sure what to say (well, actually, whether he liked it or not the answer was "nothing) to a statement. She needed a shower? And what was this of being out of the water for too long? Sure Sanji wouldn't have minded going back to the Sunny (and his recent "sighting" had made him a little homesick), but what did Story need to be in water for?

Sanji started to ask her, but no sound came out. He swore - or at least he tried to - and put his hand to his throat. He was tempted to show her his neck but he wasn't sure if there was even a scar leftover so there was no telling if that would be of any use.

He frowned. This was going to be frustrating.

Story could sense confusion and frustration and felt it echo within her. "Can't you speak, Sanji?" Story asked softly, her hands reaching automatically for his own that cradled his throat. She trailed her finger tips softly over his knuckles then up the long digits before coming to rest on his throat. Story looked at his throat closely and though she couldn't see anything at first knew that something was wrong. Sanji was sort of talkative, Story knew that much.

She was about to lose herself in worrying about her new friend when a wave of dizziness hit her and the need for water pushed its way back into her mind. Hurriedly Story almost whispered a quick explanation of what was going on with the hopes that he could help. "I am a narf from the Blue World. The Blue World is underwater and narfs need water to survive. I've been out of the water too long and I need to..." Story trailed off, unsure of which word to use. "I need to get my strength back. Through water," Story looked at Sanji with large pleading eyes.

Story touched his throat and he had to shake his head no, he couldn't talk. I'm sorry, Story-chan . . . they did something to me and now I can't . . . he didn't want to finish the thought.

Then she started talking about something called Blue World, and his eyes lit up. Blue World . . . it couldn't be . . . maybe it's the narf term for All Blue? Then he frowned. He'd gathered that most of the people here were from other worlds - chances are, Story-chan wasn't from his world and it wasn't just a matter of it being another term for the All Blue. Still, Sanji made a mental note to ask her about it - well, once he figured out how ( ... )
