Characters: Machi Tobaye, Kairi, possibly otherwise Open?
Setting: Grand Room
Time: Early Day 9
Summary: Machi did not hallucinate Kairi, surprise, surprise.
Warnings: None?
Machi was at the piano, but he wasn't playing. He lay on his back, lay on the the piano bench, his knees bent and his feet flat on the black wood. His eyes were closed and he was to all appearances asleep... except he wasn't. He was alert and listening... but mostly thinking.
He had a lot to think about. Trucy... after last night, he knew more than ever that he would have to protect her if she was going to be protected at all--he was the only one who would. That was obvious. But was it worth it? There was no particular reason to... but for some reason he was loathe to let it go. He now knew, however, that he could not trust her--not any more, if he even had to begin with. That was questionable. Trucy was much flightier than Anna anyway, and much less capable of defending herself... at least she was now safe from Rayne. A smug smile tugged at his face for a few seconds.
And Rayne's idea of 'punishment' had been to his benefit. Stupid.
So what to do now?
Playing the piano was no longer liberating, and his interest was waning, even as it left a growing hollow space in him, a growing a frustration. It was no longer freeing, and it drained him. He'd effectively stopped playing entirely. But why? He couldn't figure it out. Had he changed? Or was it everything around him that had changed? He suspected it was the former... and he didn't particularly care.
In fact, it was almost convenient... he had other things to prioritise these days.
