Alphonse was readily available to be a guide - though he wasn't sure, exactly, what causd him to take a look into the entrance room. Perhaps it was something like reminiscing; he finally had his sight back, and it had been so long...so maybe that was why he wanted to look back at the place that this had all started in. Or maybe it was something totally different - he wasn't entirely sure, but the point of the matter was mainly that he had decided to do it, in the end. And it seemed that that had been a good idea, after all.

There was a girl there, looking around her, as if she might be a new comer. A slightly odd looking girl, if only based on her hair, but nothing that worried Alphonse in the least. His biggest concern was that she was new, or at least seemed to be.

"Um...hello!" he tried, a bit awkwardly. He hated to think that more people were getting stuck here, honestly, but it was inevitable. "Are you new here...?" A bit of an awkward question, but he didn't know how else to word it.

She hadn't been expecting any reason to rely on the possibility of the kindness of strangers. She didn't know such a thing existed, really. Even Remilia hadn't been all that nice, and Marisa... Marisa Kirisame, the thief? Reimu, who tried to annihilate such a fragile little girl? She was shocked, then, to see that this person seemed to be a nice person.

She turned to look at the boy; if it hadn't been seen before, her eyes were the same color as her hair. "Lucky guess," she said -- she tried to sound uninviting, but came off sounding like she'd gone peculiar. A slight cough later, she proceeded. "Yes, I'm new here. This is kind of like what my home is like, but at the same time, a lot different. Mistress favored a rather different style." She had a quick look around one more time, just to take in what everything looked like.

"So..." She felt so awkward asking this question. "Can you show me around...?" Even worse for the next one. "And... and who are you? I've never seen you before..."

Alphonse blinked back a bit at the revealation of her peculiar appearance, but he thought little of it. It wasn't exactly an important thing, at any rate...he squirmed a bit, though, at the tone she first used with him, saying it had been a 'lucky guess', before she continued. "It's nothing like what he had at home..." he offered, in response to her comment. He'd never seen anything quite like this, at any rate. "Your home must have been interesting." He meant that honestly enough, as well.

He blinked a bit, again, at her questions, before smiling and nodding his head to her. "Of course! My name is Alphonse Elric - it's nice to meet you, Miss...?" he trailed off, obviously hoping for a name in return for his own.

He hesitated again, before adding, in a far more sombre tone of voice, "...I'll have to tell you all about this house, too," he advised, not looking forward to that talk, if only because he hated to know that someone else was stuck here, now, too, "While I show you around, I guess."

Was it all that interesting? After you'd lived their all your life, you got a bit bored of it. "Mistress was an interesting woman," Patchouli commented, a bit quietly. Already she was getting a bit nervous about all of this interaction, but she could hide it reasonably well.

...until Alphonse asked the girl's name. "Patchouli," she said, getting noticeably more quiet now. She noticed herself having difficulty remaining composed as she spoke. But, what was she to do? She just... passed it off as normal.

"Well," she said, "I'd be interested in knowing. My guess is this isn't exactly a place I can leave easily. If I didn't come here of my own volition, would I just be let walk out whenever I feel like it? Kind of like a black hole..."

Alphonse nodded a little bit, but was unsure what else to say to that - he did wonder about the use of the word 'mistress', though, if nothing else...

He smiled a little bit more as she introduced herself, voice quiet, recognising some of what he assumed was shyness - he tried his best to make sure his smile was warm. "It's nice to meet you Miss Patchouli." he repeated, nodding to her and bowing his upper body a bit, trying to be polite and accommodating for her.

He was a bit surprised, however, at her perception - as far as he knew, most people didn't figure that much out too quickly, but she was quite logical about that deduction. He nodded his agreement, before saying it as well. "Yeah, it seems like we're stuck here, at least for now; everyone wants to find a way out, there just hasn't been any luck so far..."

Alphonse shook away the more negative thoughts, before asking "Is there anywhere in particular you'd like to see...?"

"Um... it's nice to meet you, too, Alphonse." It has been a very long time since she'd said "It's nice to meet you" to anyone. A few years, at least, probably.

She just had a look around. "It doesn't look like the kind of place either that would let me out, either, just... judging from how it looks. At least it doesn't look like the sort of place that's likely to fall in on us, either... right?" She thought one more minute. "Right? Should I expect anything weird to happen to us?"

At that question, she had an answer in mind already. "Is there a library about?"

Alphonse flashed another smile to Patchouli, at that, glad that she was at least coming out with that, before he got back onto subject with her. He shook his head, answering as truthfully as he possibly could. "The house is study," he said, which was probably more than a little bit of an understatement. "But...weird things are pretty common here, I guess." A lot of strange things, as far as he knew, though he never knew the extent of it, for the most part.

"A library?" he repeated, and a hint of enthusiasm was in his answer, "Yeah, there's one this way - " he made a gesture for her to follow him as he turned toward the door. "It's only really got fiction, but it's still pretty well stocked..."

She would probably have not been able to construct a proper response to anything more Alphonse said on the subject, anyhow. However, the mention of 'weird things' caught her attention. She'd encountered things she'd once thought weird back home... both homes, actually. "What sort of 'weird things' are we referring to, sir?" Was she eager to learn? Possibly, but she was more interested in being sure she could be prepared for whatever was to be thrown her way.

She followed Alphonse as he gestured. The idea of a library containing only fiction perhaps did not sound terribly appealing at first, but certainly there were worse things. She'd be able to keep herself entertained a little, right? "I'll probably manage... for some period of time, at least," she said, with a slight laugh.

Alphonse wasn't sure how to explain what 'weird' meant, per se - it was a rather general statement. "Well...this place is 'haunted', it seems." he hesitated, before quickly adding, in case she, like him, was unlikely to believe something that sounded so irrational so easily, "As unbelievable as that sounds. There's just not really a better word for it. So sometimes weird 'monster'-like things appear...one time I even awoke to found a collar on that connected me to someone else in the house." A few good examples, there - that was a start.

Alphonse smiled a bit to her, again, as he led her to the library. "It's better than nothing, I think." he offered, with a bit of a shrug. He preferred non-fiction, as well, but he did enjoy reading in general, at least.

Well, that sounded weird. Okay, not all that weird; once the moon is hijacked by rabbits and replaced with a false moon to keep the night going forever, or you find that Hell has a giant nuclear reactor in it which is controlled by a personification of a hell-raven with one arm which appeared to be a plasma rifle, how weird an instance is something like... two people being magically chained together? It could be a lot worse. As for weird monsters... well, Gensokyo had its fair share of them, too.

"I guess so," she said. No likelihood of getting much research done, then, she thought to herself. "Still..." Again, she felt a little odd saying this, as it had been several years... "...thank you, Alphonse."
