planets playing hide-and-seek

It's... been a bit. I've been meaning to put in a proper retrospect of the past year, which has actually been quite a significant change in recent years; in fact, I'd have to say that upon look back at my time in Portland, this would be the time when I feel like I'm actually settling in on my own terms. I kind of wonder because it is true; I DO deal with this fairly frequently. I mean, it IS possible that these kinds of hassles are normal when it comes to dealing with universities, but I sincerely doubt that most people, particularly those with money, would've tolerated even go through some of this crap ONCE let alone how regularly this seems to happen with me. (Let's see, I've had to prove my identity twice, each term with the university has involved me having to correct some mistake on their part, then there the was case of mistaken identity with the bill collectors that was caused from someone not willing to own up to a clerical error (Doug was there for that one). That isn't nearly all of it either.)

It could be a family thing though. My mum, for whatever reasons, gets audited constantly (almost yearly) even though she makes no money and owns virtually nothing tax-worthy. No property, no assets, no inheritance, no dependents anymore. Thankfully for her, it's just a matter of sending copies of a W-2 each time they ask and yet they seem to not believe her no matter how many times she has to prove that she makes no money.
