I went in to school yesterday, signed yearbooks with everyone I hadn't had the chance to yet, talked to all of my important teachers I've had over the last fours years, and asked Mr. Gravener to sign my John Williams score. I asked him about playing trumpet over the summer....He asked me for my cell phone number in case he found any "gigs" for me to play at, ha! ...that could be fun.
I talked to Mr. Fitzsimmons...since he's retiring. He's mostly reponsible for the error that kept me from graduating with honors. I should have just signed up in the first place. Matt and I, both...oh well. Anyways, he's still a nice person, I don't blame him. So....then I went to see Frau...aka Mrs. Charlesworth, and she signed my yearbook....in German! Yep. Tori gave me a picture from awards night in black and white, very artistic. Thanks, even though you don't read this. Christine! I'm glad you like your necklace. It only took about 2 hours to do...mainly because I needed to find the right string. (You see, Christine's necklace broke the other day and I was standing by the door and asked me to throw the pieces away ...because the garbage can was right behind me. Instead, I took put them in my pocket, took them home, re-strung it and made a clasp for it as a graduation surprise.)
Okay....so, after school -
Joanna and Carolyn came to graduation...
We weren't supposed to clap for anyone until the end...but I did anyway for Matt Glahn...I didn't hear anyone else. Kristoff spoke very well...and had made some additions to it. Good job on the closing. When they called "Eric Raymond Carter" I didn't think I'd hear anything...but I did! I got my diploma...and thanked everyone.
Afterwards, everyone came back to my house.
My family came over and..ooh, and my great aunt Katharine...I really like seeing her...but I don't get to very often. She probably has the best sense of humor in my family next to my grandfather. Though....I wasn't in that happy a mood. I don't know....it's just....mixed feelings about graduating. I got my new trumpet, a trip to San Francisco, $2000, and a new digital camera. Gah...people think I want money. I don't...honestly. I rarely get myself anything. I usually end up using it to buy things for other people. Bah, people don't really seem to understand me. While it could be surmised that I am a theorist who likes to ponder the universe...and try to fix things that seem beyond my control. The real me is more a renaissance man....Who goes out by a lake at 1:30 in the morning when there is a mystical fog settling low on the ground like in a movie...just to look at the stars....Who goes outside in the middle of the night in the dead of winter to listen to the silence the snow creates by dampening the ambient noises.......but he's the only one awake....who goes for long bike rides and just thinks ....takes pictures....writes.....wishing all the while he could share these things with someone. A sentimentalist who reads poetry in strange places...
If people only took the time to see.
It takes a long time to decide some things...
If only time didn't move so quickly....
Anyways....right after everyone left my house I rushed to get back to Sovereign Bank Arena again..so I could see my friend Matt Witkowski graduate from Steinert. I made it just in time...since his last name starts with W.
Lauren Benson was second in the class! ....though, I missed her speech.
I took a picture with my new camera.
I went over his house afterwards for a while. We had pizza and soda and...fun.
The I came home, listened to music...and went to sleep.
Summer awaits...
