It's May 25th, 2004 and you know what that means? The new Slipknot album is out.. But like many, I downloaded it off the internet.. Not that I wanted it, but I used to be a big Slipknot fan (7th-8th grade) and I was curious to see what they did this time around.. Here's my song by song review of the entire album, prepare yourselves for one wild ride..
1.Prelude 3.0- The intro to this intro reminds me of techno, I guess they finally found another song where they could use the turntables other than "Spit it Out".. Actually, this sounds like a mild ballad, what a great way to start out a fucking album.. The lyrics bitch about something that's over, and how everything sucks, go figure..
2.The Blister Exists- This song is nothing but generic numetal riff, pre-verse shouts, wispher screams and sloppy blast beats..
3.Three Nil- HORRIBLE
4.Duality- "I push fingers into my eyes.." it's exactly what I do when I hear this song.. Seriously, somebody needs to shoot these fuckers.. If you have seen the video to this song you INSTANTLY want to kill yourself due to the graphic scenes of fat goth tits flopping about..
5.Opium of the People- The intro to this song is the only decent part of the album, the song quickly turns to shit though.. I don't know how many songs with the same vocal pattern of scream-talk-scream-breathing a single person could take.. "I DON'T CARE, JUST MAKE IT STOP!" Besides, how many songs are people going to make using the word opium?
6.Circle- Starts of with radio noise, and then it has an acoustic guitar.. Making this the second ballad of the CD, must have been Corey's fault because he is so fucking cockloving with Stone Sour
7.Welcome- I can't tell the difference between this and Opium of the People
8.Vermillion- Ever gone to the Booh-Bah site? That's what the first part of this song sounds like.. This song should be called "Let's try to be Trent Reznor and Blow a Shit Covered Dick" because that's what the lyrics are about, some chick who likes Corey and blows him hard after he fucks the fat clown in the ass
9.Pulse of the Maggots- This song is the ranting crowd pleaser of the album, it makes you want to get up and throw some fists... Just hope that you will throw your fists into a window and it will cut your wrists and you will die, it's just that bad..
10.Before I Forget- The use of extra percussion is evident in this song, because it's nearly impossible for a numetal band to have bass drum and cymbals at the same time.. The lyrics make you think that the band is more than human because he was a creature before he was a man.. Wow, intelligent
11.Vermillion Pt.2- This is another ballad, unlike the first part of the song it tells the story about Corey being scared about the chick.. Obviously the shitty dick sucking scared him and he doesn't know what to do about it.. Poor guy :(
12.The Nameless- I've never heard a song go from a Hatebreed ripoff riff to a ballad in the same song.. Maybe this is why the 'Knot is so big, they appeal to the angsty teenage audience and get the hair metal ballad guys all in the same song..
13.The Virus of Life- Getting close to the end I began to wonder if Slipknot had any talent with this album, this song proved they did.. Corey has the best whiny vocals since Korn and the guitar playing is almost up there with the guy from Godsmack..
14.Danger- Keep Away- Not something you name a ballad..
I'm done, sorry for wasting your time.. There wasn't anthing I could have said about this album that was actually worth saying
