I totally wail on my guitar, just like a ninja
Eve brought home Guitar Hero last week and let me tell you it has got to be the most entertaining game ever. The songlist brings me back to my highschool days when I played in bands like Rench and Abolish, practicing tunes like Symphony of Destruction, and Unsung. It also has a few newer songs that I've been getting into such as Take me out by Franz Ferdinand and Cochise by Audioslave, and a few old classics like Smoke on the Water. I also add that with two Guitar Controllers(I believe an extra one is only like $20) that we have here the ultimate party game for room with an average age range between 18 and 30. My little brother and sister get into it as well, and they're much younger than I am.
Think "Dance Dance Revolution" that you can sit on your ass while playing, while still maintaining a degree of dificulty.
To infinity and beyoooooond!
Hanging out with Darren, Dave, and Michael the other night got me interested in trying out EVE: Online again. I reactivated my account and had forgotten how much fun I have with the combat system in the game. I've got my pilot tooling around in his Rifter at the moment, pimping out a trio of autocannons and a light missile launcher that has just become my new best friend. I've almost got all of the new skills that I need memorized, but since I've only got some social skills left I am going to bust up my ship-based skills to get me into a Wolf assault craft(because it looks kind of like a Rifter, and I think that the Rifter looks really badass. It's about one of the only Minmatar ships that I like the appearance of). A wolf is basically just a bigger, badder version of what I'm in right now as far as I can tell, and after I get into that I can start thinking about cruisers once my weaponry skills are brought up a little more.
I like that I can advance my character while I'm not playing, I'll be perfectly honest. Before I go to bed I log in and look for a skill that looks useful and will take less than 8 hours to train. I train it, and when I wake up in the morning I'm ready for another skill. I can train skills while I watch TV, while I'm playing the game, while I'm taking a crap. It's rather nice.
Chicago
Eve is taking me to Chicago this weekend. I have no idea why, or what for. Well ok, she said it was for my birthday but she still refuses to tell me what we're going there for. Leaving Sat morning and coming back either Sun evening or Mon afternoon I'd imagine. Still not completely sure.
The houseguest
Joel, our wayward houseguest has found a place to live with my buddy Ryan(who played STEVE, the Paladin in WoW). It looks like they're moving in shortly after the 1st of August. I like having him around much of the time, but it will be nice to have him gone the times when I do not want him around. ;)
New Job
I started with a company called FLSConnect as their Network Administrator. They do political fundraising and work pretty hand in hand with the Norm Coleman camp, but I don't really hold that against them. Everyone in IT seems pretty nice, and the other folk in the company are pretty nice as well so far. It's a smaller company which is what I was really looking forward to, with a lot of servers which I'm also really looking forward to. Pretty straightforward pretty much entirely windows 2000/2003 based, though the previous Administrator left behind no real documentation so I've been putting some things together myself while I get acquainted with their network. I'm hoping this turns out a good deal for me. :D
