What You Bring To The Table
What kind of person are you? Describe yourself with four “I am” or “I am not” statements:
1) I am not a girl. (Not that I think you'll think/insist that, it's just on my mind all the time lately.)
2) I am confused most of the time.
3) I am easy to shut up when I'm being rude, although I have no "filter." (You just say, "George, stop being a dick," and I say, "Oh, shit, sorry.")
4) I am totally mega-awesome.
What are your major hobbies and interests?: I spend a lot of time thinking about trans*-related things and looking stuff up about it. I also read a lot, and think about food basically all the time. I love recipes, although not so much cooking or eating, which is a bit strange, I know. I've been oddly interested in illegal drugs lately, although at this time I've never used any. I like spending time with my girlfriend, which isn't really an "interest," per se, more of a "given," BUT WHO CARES? In case you're curious how I waste my time (and I do mean waste) I've spent the last week or so learning to type with the Dvorak keyboard layout, and I am the master of Minesweeper. My brother set it to 32x32, with 256 mines, and it is hard as balls.
Do you have any body mods? Which? What? Show us! I have my left ear pierced twice and my right once, although I don't wear onyching (fucking Dvorak typoes...) anything in any of them... I have a very very very faint "LOVE" scratched over my ankle (with a staple, in the middle of class, haha), and a scar heart that I failed to tattoo on my hip. I really just wanted to see if I could, aaand I failed. So, when I turn 18 (in early May), I'm going to a real tattooist to ink a bear on my arm.
What do you consider your biggest accomplishment so far?: Living this long--does that count? I quit cutting myself, and I got into college, and I even think I'll actually graduate, so that's pretty accomplished, for me.
How much time do you spend on the internet daily?: Most of it? Haha, it depends. Too much, I'm sure, but I don't have a lot of people i talk to in "real life," so my internet homies are important.
Are you very talkative? In a good way?: Sometimes, and nope. I tend to be either awkward or overbearing. When I'm good, though, I'm pretty good, and I've been getting better. It's easier since I realized about my gender.
Do a lot of people have romantic crushes on you?: Ummm... I have no idea. Probably not; I don't know that many people who are into girls, and even fewer who see me as a guy.
Do people ever tell you you’re too serious or not serious enough? Why?: Nobody really tells me either... I guess I get told I take things too seriously sometimes? Mostly about things I do wrong, or when I take a thought too far.
Have you ever been involved with rating communities? What do you think of them?: I joined
dyke_Riot at one point because I needed someone to be mean to me. They were surprisingly nice to me, but I left anyway. For one thing, I'm not not not a dyke, and I'd also seen someone's outraged entry about those "Red Cross" flyers that said "no fags allowed" or something, and didn't want to be part of a community that so badly needed to CTFL.
How much education do you have?: I'm graduating from high school in 10 weeks, and planning to go to college, although I'm not sure what I'll study. I'm going to either George Mason University (I got in!) or the University of Mary Washington (I'll hear in April), and I'm kind of leaning toward thinking about a pre-med major, although I'm always interested in gender studies.
Do you think degrees and book learning are important?: I guess, if you're into that. College is good for some people, but I think vocational training can be equally valuable. I also think that options like joining the military can be really good for some people, although that's partly because of some of the education-related benefits you can receive, and I really disagree with the (American military's) "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy. I do think that a high school education--or rather, staying in school until you're a legal adult, regardless of the kind of education you're receiving (be it college-prep or internships or vocational training--is important, although I recognize that it's not possible for some people.
What is the craziest thing you've ever done in your life?: Man, I don't know. I get pretty psychotic sometimes, but I don't do a lot of things that are crazy as in interesting stories. I guess I'll add the time I shaved my head in a public park/playground with little kids around, without telling my mother, whom I knew to be opposed to headshaving. I only mention it because there are pictures; there aren't a lot of pictures of me...
State a strong opinion or view that you have and can defend: The world is a beautiful place.
Let’s Get Personal
Would you rather be 20 or 30 forever if you could choose?: I'd probably pick 30.
How do you define your racial and ethnic identity?: I'm pretty fucking white... I mean, in terms of color, haha. I'm white but not narrow, I'll go with. I'm an "American"--the chill kind.
How do you define your sexuality and gender? How did you arrive at this identity, and do you feel comfortable?: I call myself transgenderqueer, but I wouldn't say I've arrived at this, For me, identity, or at least comfort, lies in the ability to look at who I am and be cool with that. It showed up when I realized I could look like I wanted to look and act like I wanted to act and still be who I am. It's crazy to look at pictures of me when I was presenting as a girl, because in the ones where I'm most relaxed, I'm so awkward in those clothes, with that--form. I get really feminine mannerisms when I'm nervous, so when I was feeling the most miserable and anxious, I was a rather pretty girl, haha. Now, I'm so much happier and at peace, even though it means expressing myself in a way that's more likely to endanger me.
If you could have one super power what would it be?: Controllable invisibility.
How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?: All of it, duh. He can do anything he puts his mind to.
Do you have a label like “goth” or “emo” or “preppy” for your sense of style? What is it?: Nah. Jeans and t-shirts. pretty much year round. I do enjoy a good shirt and tie, although I haven't had the opportunity to buy nice pants, though, so it looks a bit odd.
Are you a vegetarian or vegan? Why or why not? Nah. I like meat a lot. I do make a point to think about the fact that I'm eating the muscles that a cow or pig or chicken used to stand or wallow or flap or swim with, though, so that I can have muscles to walk and breathe and enjoy the world.
What are your philosophic or religious beliefs (in general) ?: I call myself a pantheist, and consider that a kind of paganism. You know how Quakers believe in this light that's in everyone, and that's God? It's kind of like that, only it's in everything that ever was and still is, and it's god. I do something like candle magic, with little tea lights that burn themselves out, and I talk to the moon like she's listening.

The Crowd Wants To Know
What do you want to get out of The Dinner Crowd?: I don't really know. Friends, I suppose. People who won't laugh in my face when I talk about my opinions (I need to get better friends...).
Do you think highly of yourself? Explain why or why not?: I think not so much. I like to proclaim to, but when I think about it... I have an eating problem, and I hate the way my body is shaped. I'm getting past the part of my life where I self-injured, but the urge has yet to go away, and the voice in my head that says I'm worthless is still around. I think I'm okay, but that's all.
