didn't make it

There was an arts & crafts thing this weekend at Marymoor Park and with the weather being as it is I didn't get there. I don't think I would have survived the bus trip there much less wandering about that place.

But Friday night I hid out at the movies, watched Tropic Thunder. Freaking hilarious but I'm now more scarred than I was after seeing Paul McGillion in drag looking like my monther in A Dog's Breakfast. And if you can't gather why, knowing me and having heard the "rumors" than I ain't telling. Yuck. But still it was good and I think better than Pineapple Express.

I watched that yesterday, Saturday, but made the mistake of going with bebe sister who insisted on hauling me out of the nice air conditioned library to go wander about the NOT air conditioned Crossrods Mall. Or if there is A/C it wasn't very good. Not to mention having to walk OUTSIDE in the sun and the HEAT between the mall & theatre. Coulda smacked her. Anyway...Pineapple Express was good but not as out n out funny as Tropic Thunder. I think because it's (P.E.) all about drugs. And it's so not something I do or really truely condone but allow users to make that choice on their own. Another thing that was bothering me was sister kept trying to talk to me about things in the movie. Like I hadn't seen what someone was using for something as it's kinda sorta OBVIOUS. Sheesh.

Today I awoke about 7am or just after DYING of the heat. And all the power was out! I finally managed to stumble to the cell phone and called the power company. The recording said they knew of the MASSIVE power outages that spread from Bellevue out towards Carnation and down to Covington and Federal Way. They mentioned a few other places too. BUT when I turned on and logged into their website to read more about it there was ZERO mention of it. At all. So I got into the KOMO/ABC website to try finding out more and maybe check their radio feed online and that's when I found it was due to thunderstorms. Thunderstorms I totally missed. Sad at that. Just after 8am I was calling PSE back to find out when they'd return service and was on hold for a live body as the recording had not changed when the power came back on. I caught the tail end of news talking about it and how we'd be probably getting more tonight and maybe even a few throughout the day, here & there. Some infomercial with Mr. T and some countertop oven thing came on so I turned off the tv.

Got bathed and dressed then slipped into bed for a couple more hours. Then up here to the library. I'd meant to bring along the lil dvd player to get caught up on some things I have to watch but oops. Left it all at home. But I have finally finished "The Omnivore's Dilemma: A Natural History of Four Meals" by Michael Pollan. I've been trying to read it since JANUARY! I gave myself the goal of finishing it by end of August. We're talking I even went and BOUGHT the damned thing. Even bought the "follow up" book called "In Defense of Food: An Eater's Manifesto". I'm going to be easy on myself though and allow me until Salmon Day's, or the first weekend of October, to start and finish it.

I've totally misplaced the GIANT Einstein biography book I'd finally checked out of the library and have only read the first few pages of and I wanna kick myself. I've already had to renew it once and have to return it before I'll have enough ours in the day to read it. It's one I'll have to NOT buy until I'm sure I want to. As it is I am glad I bought these Pollan books.

I have been using my "blogspot" to talk more about that so you can go there.
