My name is Shon Gordon, and I've been playing bass for 8 years (I'm 19 now), and professionally for 5. I play both electric and upright bass, but I specialize in electric bass. I've played in rock bands, jazz bands, funk bands, blues jams, R&B/hip hop groups and an experimental progressive rock group. I've also sat in with my Mom's western swing band Manzanita Moon.
I currently attend Berklee College of music on a $10,000 scholarship studying film scoring and composition. At Berklee, I have experienced many different styles including more traditional styles of jazz and latin music, where I studied under rising musician Esperanza Spalding. I've sat in with three of the five Berklee Presidential scholarship recipients including: Rob Hanlon, Victor Gould, and Jeff Fajardo.
I am proficient with chart reading in multiple styles, and am working hard at note reading. My ear is better than most musicians. My group in California, Cam's Blend, plays extensively in Sonoma County, in the heart of the wine country.
When I'm not playing bass, I write electronic music using the program Reason.
