Yui is your average high school student, who wants to get better at playing the trombone and be part of a band with her friend Nao. She has a hobby of collecting various strange dolls and accessories. Outside of school, she works with her grandfather at his Orthopedic Clinic and puts aside time to secretly help Engi find the Dream Demon that killed her sister, Patti. Engi is a Dream Deamon that Yui met in Engi's dream world. After she heard story, Yui agreed to help Engi on her quest to seek revenge and at the same time eliminate all dream demons that were brought over by Pharos Heracles in the awaken world. Engi believed all dream demons that found themselves in the awakened world were subordinates of Pharos and therefore must be destroyed.
This was their mission before they met Yumeji and Merry Nightmare. While Yui was at a department store looking at dolls with Nao, Merry bumps into her and knocks the doll out of her hand. It was Yumeji who saved the doll from being destroyed. Nao eggs her on to get to know Yumeji, but the encounter was a short one. Before they both took off, Yui learned of Yumeji's name and thanked him for saving the doll. She was oblivious to their involvement with the dream demons. Engi and Merry would fight soon after that, but Yui remained hidden and never saw who Engi's opponents were. After the battle, Yui's only concern was to let Engi recover. She was heavily beaten and Yui was left with the impression that Engi had fought a powerful foe and that there was something different about the demon Engi fought.
Yui isn't seen again until Yumeji comes to visit her at her grandfather's office. Yui reveals her connection with Engi to him, because Engi wanted to speak directly to him and apologize for causing harm on a human during her match against Merry. It turns out Engi was mistaken about Merry being a subordinate of Pharos and different. They were going to discuss the current situation with the Dream Demons, but Merry wasn't present, so Yumeji leaves to retrieve her. During this waiting period Yui and Engi were forced into a dream world that belong to a Dream Demon named Landsbourough. They weren't in there alone, Yumeji and Merry were both there as well.
During the battle, everyone learns from Landsbourough how Dream Demons are basically parasites once they are attached to a person in the awaken world. If Engi ever dies, so would Yui's dreams. Knowing this devastated Engi. All this time, Yui and Engi were going after Dream Demons, killing them without realizing what effect it caused to the people they were connected to. Landsbourough quietly retreats in the midst of their shock, leaving everyone to regroup and think of what to do next. This marks the beginning of an alliance between the two groups. They had to stop Pharos and find an a way to send the Dream Demons back to the dream world, even if Engi found it impossible. After the meeting with Landsbourough, Yui starts to spend more time with Yumeji and Merry, with both Yui and Engi taking turns to coach Yumeji so he can stand up against the Dream Demons.
On the way back from grocery shopping one day, Yui and Engi encounters Heracles. Yui stayed on the side-lines and watches as Engi supposedly defeats Heracles, but in reality Heracles was merely testing her strength. Heracles left Engi at the brink of death while Yui watched on helplessly. He left them with a message, to gather all their allies so that he could end their pointless endeavor in one fell swoop. Yui was left shaken by the encounter and Engi was in no condition to fight and went quiet to recover her strentgh. After telling Yumeji and Merry what had happened, she took it upon herself to try and cheer everyone up. So she goes to visit Yumeji, inviting Nao and a few of Yumeji's friends and cook for everyone.
Currently Engi still remains out of commission and Yui is seen again working for Isana's father at the restaurant so she can learn how to cook and then with Nao as they talk about their future in the band. Nao begins to suspect that Yui was hiding something from her.
Personality: When you first meet her, Yui will normally ask for your name up front, even at the most inopportune times. She interrupted a class just to ask for everyone's names because that was what her grandfather taught her. She's rooted to her family traditions, especially any advice she gets from her grandfather. So his advice becomes the basis for her perspective in life. Sometimes she gives people the impression of being a little weird. Yui has been described as the girl who has a very strange view of the world. Even her best friend, Nao can't understand her interest most of the time. She has the strangest habit of finding something special in most things people find unimportant. She loves to collect dolls, but she only likes specific kinds, particularly the weird, unattractive ones. She would give them a history and "understands" why they are unpopular. When Nao and Isana offer her another doll they think she would like, she just frowns and tells them off that she has no interest in mass-produce products or that they just don't get it.
She can be little absentminded and easily distracted. Sometimes her obsession for dolls get the best of her. In the middle of a dangerous situation with a Dream Demon, she momentarily forgets what's going on around her to idolize the craftsmanship of one of Landsbourough's dolls. She was excited to see them be able to move on their own, just like the dolls she has at home that move while she's asleep...yea, she's that special or at least show how creative she can be. It nearly cost her, her life though.
Despite her oddities and seemingly aloof she comes off, she becomes very serious with whatever task she may be focusing on. She sometimes has such a composed expression that sometimes it's difficult to tell how she's feeling. Sometimes she forgets her own limits in order to get things done. Nao pointed out how she looked like she was about to pass out when she was setting up for the cultural festival. Yui is also the type of person who is always trying to do everything she can to help others. If someone asked for her help, she is perfectly okay with helping that person in need, even if they're a complete stranger.
That was how Yui became Engi's vessel. Despite not knowing who Engi even was, her cries for Yui's help spoke volumes to her. Engi had reached out to her, therefore she believed it was only right for her to help. "When the bond between people are tied at the shoulders we become each others strength." Your will, becomes Yui's as well. This was something she also learned from her grandfather. She is always willing to do favors for people, just like her grandfather. Very rarely is she ever seen not in good spirit. She has an optimistic look on life and she tries to be that person who keeps everyone in high spirits.
Strengths:
Despite how aloof she can be, Yui is a very capable girl for her age. She always gives it her all in anything she does. She never says no to anyone who asks for her help, making her come off as a reliable person. She likes being able to help others, no matter if they are friend or strangers, something she picked up from her grandfather. If someone reaches out to her, she will do everything she can to assist them. It is likely because of her additional background as a doctor assistant to her grandfather that she follows this code. She may not be physically strong, but she makes up for it with willpower. A doctor always has to remain calm and ensure the patient that everything will be okay.
She has some orthopedic experience from her grandfather, so she's familiar with muscle pain, joint problems and so forth. She probably has the most experience in massage therapy as she has been seen doing the practice once in a flashback and with Yumeji.
Outside of her job, she actively plays the trombone in the band at her school. She hopes to one day her and Nao will be able to play in band competitions representing their school. She also has an active imagination. Often times, she can be seen, publicly fantasizing stories behind the dolls she picks at stores.
Weaknesses:
Yui isn't good at saying no when it comes to helping others. Sometimes she pushes herself pass her limits in order to get things done. Nao once mention how Yui looked like she would collapse at anytime during the cultural festival at the school. She's reluctant to tell others her troubles sometimes, because she doesn't want to be a burden to others or drag her into her problems. If someone knows her well enough, they can tell when she's lying to them though. Normally she puts up a good poker face, but as Nao privately pointed out, Yui always touches her hair with her right hand when she is hiding something.
She can become easily distracted and absentminded, especially when it comes to collecting dolls and accessories. In the middle of a battle, Yui stops to gloat at the broken dolls that were being controlled by Landsbourough. Not at the best of times to be idolizing how the enemy's dolls move. In addition to that, Yui also has absolutely no fighting capabilities. This is why she is always hiding somewhere while Engi is off slaying Dream Demons. To avoid getting hurt or getting caught in a dangerous situation.
She is also a terrible cook. She cooked for Yumeji's family and the mere thought of her cooking made them cringe. Same goes for her own family. She currently works with Isana's dad at the STO cafe whenever she has the time to learn how to cook from her father.

First Person:
Mmm five more minutes grandpa. Ahah, no you have to wait mama. Engi has to bake the stew a little longer...
...
Ah...!? Engi? [...] Engi...!? Engi, are you there? [...] W-Why won't you answer me...? [There's a long uneasy pause before the voice is faintly heard again] Did she fall asleep or...where am I?
This--This isn't my room. Am I having a daydream? Ah, that's right! If I can't sense her then we must be in a daydream! Oh, but I suppose this is more like a real dream now, because I was actually asleep. Ah...but who's dream world is this? I don't recognize this one. Maybe that's why Engi isn't here. She must be looking around right now.
That would mean she's finally recovered too! [there's the sound of grass rustling and footsteps] She can't have gone too far. I can hear some wings flapping nearby, but where is she?
...[a scream] I-I have wings!? But how did that happened!? They can't be hers. No, her wings were much bigger and very elegant. Oh, not to say these wings aren't either. [...] They're actually kind of cute...
Third Person:
Today was a wonderful day in Luceti to go shopping at the grocery store! It was Yui's turn to cook for the household and she was determined to get better at making an edible meal. Practice makes perfect, right? The only problem with that was, Yui still hadn't decided on what to make by the time she had reached the store. She was basically going to be shopping blindly for supplies. It's all right, she thought to herself, anything extra can be used for another day. She was just going to get items that caught her interest and work from there. She entered the grocery store and pondered over where to start. There were so many food items to choose from! There were even items here that she had never even heard of. She realized then that this store also incorporated food from other worlds too! She knew that there were people here from other worlds, but she didn't really think about the scope of it at a larger scale. Oh now she just had to ask people over the journals one day and see what sort of foods other people made from their own world. Maybe she can learn a few tips and recipes that she can make in the future. Poor Yui could be standing there all day just thinking about the prospect, if the sliding door behind her didn't jolt her back to where she was.
"Ah, keep it together Yui..." She started to move away from the entrance and took a shopping cart down an aisle. She could ponder about it after she had finished shopping...but knowing there was even more variety in the store made it more difficult for her to decide on what to get. Maybe she should have listened to Engi back then and at least had made a list. She frowns, if only Engi was at least here with her. She had so many things to tell her about Luceti. She wondered, if it was because this was the awakened world? At least, that sounds like better explanation than thinking something terrible might have...She stopped and clapped her hands together. I need to stop worrying, Engi wouldn't want me to. I'm here now, I should worry about my situation. With a satisfied nod, Yui found that she had made her way to the meat aisle.
"Hmmm..." Yui stood over the meat section, puzzling to herself. What sort of meat should she buy? She picked up the ground beef and paused for a moment before putting it into the cart. She then puts some pork into the cart, and then some chicken. She may as well be getting a bit of each type of meat. Oh, there's even meat that she had never seen before. Was that really dragon meat? She had to get some of that too. Once she decided she had plenty of meat, she moved on to the vegetable aisle. People needed their greens too for a balanced meal. Just like the meat produce, there were fruits and vegetables that were foreign to her as well. She came up to one of the fruits that looked sort of like an orange. The label said "Nia fruit". She picked one up curiously. Maybe it's another name for an orange in another world. And then she had an idea of what she could make tonight. Shredded meat with a citrus sauce. Excited, she picked up more of the Nia fruit and then placed all the ingredients she had collected into the shopping bags to take home.
