NAME: Noh

HEIGHT: 165cm
WEIGHT: 9st
GENDER: Female
NATIONALITY: Japanese
ROLE IN CANON: Protagonist (her story mode); supporting cast/minor antagonist (Oda clan/all other characters' story modes).
FANDOM: Samurai Warriors
FANDOM MEDIUM: Game
TIMELINE PERIOD: Samurai Warriors 1, post-ending.
ABILITIES: Noh is a warrior able to effectively wield claws and bombs, and she is familar with daggers. She is physically fast and agile.
CHARACTER HISTORY: Noh was born into the Saito clan of Mino province, daughter of the warlord Saito Dosan. Trained as a spy and assassin, Noh was wedded to Oda Nobunaga with the intention that she would kill him for her father. However, Noh had her own ideas; as she parted ways from the Saito clan, she told Dosan that if she believed Nounaga to be a fool, then she would kill Nobunaga as asked, but if he was worthy of her love, then she would kill him instead.
What Noh soon found out was that when it came to Nobunaga, she was caught; she loved him and hated him in equal measure. Despite the warring nature of her feelings, one thing was clear: Nobunaga was now the centre of her world.
When Nobunaga's army eventually marched on the Saito clan's Inabayama castle, she rode by his side into battle and did not hesitate to attack her former clansmen. Together, they conquered most of Japan under the Oda banner, and Noh basked in the bloodshed. But all changed at the temple of Honnoji. Increasingly at odds with Nobunaga's cruel and ruthless ways, Mitsuhide raised an army and turned on Nobunaga, displaying the Akechi bellflower crest proudly as he set fire to Honnoji. Upon seeing the bellflower and putting two and two together, Noh chose to turn traitor as well, unwilling to allow Mitsuhide to kill Nobunaga when his life and death belonged to her. She reached Nobunaga first -- only to find that it was a decoy, and that Nobunaga had already escaped Honnoji.
Noh pursued Nobunaga to his stronghold of Gifu castle, which she infiltrated. On her way to Nobunaga she fought against her former Oda clansmen without hesitation. Eventually she reached Nobunaga, and after revealing to her husband that she still desired his embrace and his death, they fought. She gained the upper hand and made to kill him, remembering her father's wishes -- but at the last moment discarded her knife and kissed him instead, having finally chosen to allow Nobunaga to live, her love for him winning out in the end.
CHARACTER PERSONALITY: Noh is an elegant woman with a dark outlook, but that does not mean that she is always sombre -- on the contrary, she is often sultry and teasing, more often than not when death is near at hand. She is dangerous, alluring and self-confident for all her issues, a true femme fatale.
There is one man at the centre of Noh's world: her husband, Oda Nobunaga, and she both loves and hates him fervently. Torn by her opposing feelings for him, to say that she is a little mentally inbalanced is an understatement. Yet she is always graceful, even in her madness.
Noh is a very bloodthirsty woman, and she enjoys killing, and has a fascination with death and destruction. But Noh also laments the cruelties of fate; she is jaded, and does not believe in the goodness of the world, nor does she pretend that the deaths of people she cares for at her hands are anything other than misfortunate. She would not stay her hand, however, or avoid betraying acquaintances -- she is merciless in her own way. What Noh does believe is that everyone can choose their own path, and it is a conviction she lives by. Noh is strong-willed and does as she sees fit alone, no matter the consequences.
HOW IS THIS CHARACTER APPROPRIATE FOR THIS SETTING: Noh is a very dark character, as one would expect from a woman known as the Viper's Daughter and the Demon's Wife. She displays a number of dark tendencies: bloodlust, delight in violence, her intense love and hate of Nobunaga, betrayal of a number of characters (Oichi, Nobunaga, Mistuhide, Ranmaru, her father). Not to mention that she is just a little bit crazy.
Why do I want to play her here? Because I want to explore her less-stable side, and there's no better place to do that a horrific mental asylum!
WHAT WILL THEIR DIAGNOSIS BE: Antisocial personality disorder.
PREDICTED PSYCHOLOGICAL EFFECTS: Noh will only laugh at being called insane. What will anger her are the restrictions that will be forced upon her. She will probably fluctuate between violence, sombre moods and collected denial.
PREDICTED BEHAVIOUR/PLANS: Noh will not take kindly to being imprisoned -- beware staff, she will probably be violent with you. She makes her owns decisions in the end, so whether or not she believes her diagnosis, she will not like being forced into a treatment at someone else's behest, and will be very resistant to being controlled. Anyone else who shows resistance will be of interest to her and she'll reach out to them. Esentially, what she will unrelentingly pursue is freedom.
However, long term, it is hard to say what her plans are because Noh is unpredictable when it comes to her mental state, so there is the possbility of her being convinced that she is deluded. Because she can be reactionary, there is a chance that the behaviour of those around her may prompt her to walk an unforseen path, as well. The last thing that Noh is is easy to predict.
DANGER LEVEL: 2.

THIRD PERSON: Calmly, Noh lowered her gaze to the man laid on the floor at her feet -- one Oda Nobunaga, her husband -- as her father's words echoed in her head.
Kill the fool.
Gifu Castle would soon be consumed by flame. The battle was now at an end, and her own personal war was fast approaching the same. Now was the time for her decision: to whom would she remain loyal to? Her father, or her husband?
Kill the fool.
Dagger in hand, Noh straddled over Nobunaga, her gaze never wavering from his own. She knew he had been aware that one day she might seek his death, and she admired how he had never flinched from the truth. As she raised the weapon above her head the corners of her painted lips curled upwards; how joyful, that her husband would not fight, nor protest, as she readied her killing blow! His life was very much in her hands, bound so sweetly to her very whim!
Kill the fool.
For one wonderful moment, she watched fondly as hints of emotion -- could that be fear she saw? -- played across Nobunaga's face, and then smiled tenderly as she made her choice. Light glinted off of her blade as it blurred into motion, a breathless second of silence pervaded, and then a clatter resounded through the room as her weapon hit the floor and skidded to a stop, just off to her right side.
Her husband was no fool; death was not meant for him. Her love was.
Noh wasted no more time and leaned forward, then extended a hand and caressed Nobunaga's cheek oh-so-gently. This was her decision, and hers alone, so when he reached out to touch her she forcefully brushed aside his hand to make a point. 'You are mine, my husband. I will not allow you to think otherwise', she thought, before she pulled him into a sitting position. With her lips barely an inch from his, she finally spoke.
“I love you, to death.”
Thus, with a kiss, she sealed her promise of devotion.
FIRST PERSON: This is not the path I have chosen. How strange... and how despicable, that you would dare to humiliate and imprison me.
You have taken my weapons, but never my resolve. I have nothing and I must seek everything -- the challenge of it is thrilling, no...?
I will return to your side, my husband. I shall dance through a rain of blood and meet you on the road to hell.
