The Courts Are at it Again?

Well today a judge in California has ruled that their ban on gay marriage is unconstitutional thus opening the door for any pair of gays to marry. I guess it should not surprise anyone that I am against gay marriage and this ruling upsets me. The thing that gets me the most is that a majority population of California opposes gay marriage (as we saw in the 04 election 11 states had votes on their ballots and in a near 3 to 1 ratio it was banned in all 11 of them). This case here is just another case of a judge stepping beyond interpreting the laws and stepping into passing their own. For about the past 20 years or so the courts have become an unchecked system of government and radical judges are striking down laws just because they don't agree with them even if a majority of the people do. We live in a democracy where majority rule but over the past 20 years we have become a system where the majority rule only if it does not offend or anger the minority (i.e. prayer in schools, under god, partial birth abortion etc..). I am upset by the fact that some atheist or some gay man or some angry hippie can sue every law and with the right judge can overturn the will of the people. We elect officials to represent us maybe we should start asking our Representatives to step up and fight for us Dubya did in Texas and he is doing it now, so lets stand up here and make sure that the will of the people is served.
