Botan glanced down at the magazine she was thumbing through. It was out of date, one of Keiko's she had she had stolen ages ago. For some reason it hadn't been thrown out

He did hear it, but he didn't respond at first. He only looked at his wife as he was toweling his hair dry, having just stepped out of the shower after a training session with Matsuri. The girl was progressing nicely.
Yes, he could understand her wanting to go on a visit. It was natural, especially since she wasn't from Suna, or even from this world. She had to be missing her old friends, he supposed.
And, it wasn't like he minded.
He made some sort of affirmative sound and moved to drape the towel over the back of a chair for now before walking over to her. "Would you like to to come with you?"
He nodded. He had the time. Akatsuki had been dealt with, and while there were never a time completely free of problems, the peace still held.
And if there was something he didn't want to do was to neglect his wife again. No, this wouldn't be time wasted away from his duties; it would be time well spent.
"Tomorrow morning?" After all, he really shouldn't just run off without some sort of notice. He'd at least have to ask Kankuro and Temari to handle things in his absence. And when they started to give him lip about it, he'd just order them.
"Sounds great with me," she said, nodding. The magazine was grabbed off the table and she held it in crossed arms. She leaned up on tip toes and kissed his cheek.
He nodded again, and stroked his palm down her arm. And he did; he did convince his siblings to cover for him for the next day. To make up for it, he did as much work as he could during the night, after having held Botan until she fell asleep. After that he got up and plowed through reports until the sun started to creep over the horizon. Then he went down to the kitchen and got a pot of tea and a couple of mugs, along with some sandwiches. No reason not to spoil his beautiful wife with breakfast in bed, was there?
Even though Gaara had opened up a great deal to the people around him as of late, most still considered him black and closed off; still for the most part silent and without expression. But silence could mean a great many things, and Botan if anyone should have learned to interpret his lack of words by now, just like she should have no problem seeing that little half-smile of his, as he set the breakfast tray down on the bedside table.
With his hands free he leaned over her to kiss her good morning, before pouring their tea.
She kissed back playfully, knowing exactly what he meant. It was still considered strange, the two of them being together. But she thought they were a good match. She could read him more easily these days and she didn't feel pressured to ever be silent. She could talk for the both of them.
She sneaked a sandwich off the tray. "So, are you ready for today?"
"Hnn." An affirmative little grunt. "What do you have planned?"
Right, there was food on that tray. Gaara suddenly realized he was in fact starving after the night. He took the other sandwich and chewed slowly as he looked at her.
Well, to be fair, there were many things in her Human Realm that he hadn't done. He was prepared for that. And as usual, he wondered if he should bring his gourd along. Well, he wouldn't. It would draw attention. But he would have that shell of sand, his armor, encasing him as always.
He didn't say anything in response to her teasing. He just ate his sandwich and drank his tea.
"Yuusuke and Keiko and Kuwabara and Yukina," she listed out loud. Yes, she had called and asked them beforehand. Yes, she had known Gaara would agree to go. She was just that good.
Shifting out from under the covers, she continued. "I thought it would be nice to have a triple date."

She closed the magazine. "It wouldn't be much, maybe a day trip." A smile played on her lips.
She was already formulating the ideas in her mind.

She stood up, grinning at him. "I've got some great ideas for things to do."
Oh, dear. What were they in for?

The gentle rays of the morning sun woke her up, and she was greeted by a wonderful surprise.
"Well, well, what a way to start the morning~"

"I think we're in for good weather. It's a good season. Warm," she informed.

The whole shinobi-thing really was second nature. Hell, maybe even first.
"Will we meet Yuusuke and the rest?"
