It especially pisses me off with the Net Neutrality thing. I would love it if we didn't have to pass regulation. It would thrill me to pieces. Unfortunately, the telecom companies have natural monopolies in their general areas, and it really wouldn't be that hard for oligopolistic collusion to happen between all of them.
NO, IDIOTS, TELECOMMUNICATION IS NOT A PERFECTLY COMPETITIVE MARKET, AND THEREFORE MOST OF YOUR ARGUMENTS FALL APART.
(Sorry, I get a little worked up over this issue.)
Oooh. I normally wouldn't have much to add here, but my office just did an event on Net Neutrality! I didn't go, but you can Google "Center for American Progress" for one of the gazillion articles written on it the next day...Also, we're doing another event on corporate responsibility on the morrow, so I'll try to go...
I'll check it out, but I feel as though Mr. "The internet is a series of tubes" Stevens has depressed me to the point where I'm losing all hope that it's ever going to happen.
Remember, the man is very old and probably doesn't know why he has to dial the telephone nowadays. Also, this is the guy who got a $220 million dollar bridge put in to an island that has a population of slightly less than 50. Or, slightly over $4 million per person who could conceivably use it.
and yeah, i agree.
