Superman Returns review.

General comments:
Overall, I think the first half of the movie is much stronger than the second half. There's a point where it just starts getting weaker and weaker, but the second half has some amazing moments, and I adored the first half. It's not like the movie suddenly goes bad, though, it's just weaker.

And now for the parts with spoilers )

i want to see the movie so bad. but it doesn´t open in spain for another couple of weeks, which totally sucks. i will be all squeeish about the Lois/Clark, i know, even though teh Bosworth annoys me a bit (i have to admit she acts better when she is not blonde).

Actually, I'm still all about the Lois/Clark/Richard and any variations in between.

I'm not sure how much you'll like Bosworth's Lois, because, like I said, she's a much softer version of the one we see on Smallville, and I'm kind of sick of hearing about how in love with Superman she is, and OMG they really do need to make a movie where she falls in love with Clark Kent, and totally chooses him over Superman at some point. I would write it myself, but I can't write anything that long and plotty to save my life.

ANYWAY, yeah, but her Lois is still pretty cool.

Superman/Lois does nothing for me, whereas Clark/Lois makes me weak in the knee. it´s like when I watched the Zorro tv show and i always wanted to kick the female lead because she was so mean with Diego de la Vega, always bitching about how Zorro was a real man and he wasn´t, while I thought Zorro was a jerk and Diego a really nice man.

Yeah, totally. I actually like some Superman/Lois, as in, Clark as Superman totally hopelessly in love with Lois, but she doesn't realize it, but yeah, I wasn't quite sure why all the Clark/Lois in the movie didn't quite bring out all of the squee (just a lot), and that was it, because it's totally one sided when she's talking to Clark, and that made me sad.

7. Not enough dork!Clark. You can't really get enough dork!Clark, and I think there needed to be more of the Clark/Superman dichotomy. It's a big deal, and I think it would have been nice to see that.

I nearly burst into giggle fits when he said "That'd be swell :D". and he was smiling all dorky-like. Made me happy.

9. Kitty and the car scene. It's just so classic Superman, and one of those moments of pure glee, simply because it's so classic. They so chose the car type and the way to film it (seeing Superman from the side) on purpose. It wasn't let's be creative, it was "Let's give hommage to this famous scene in the original Superman comics" because the way Superman began to put down that car was so from the comics. (Except I think the original intent was to smash it to teach the criminals a lesson. I could be wrong...) :D ( ... )

I giggled through most of this movie,

Oh, definitely. It's actually the cover of the first Action Comics, Superman's debut. But that sort of reference makes it classic, you know? :p

You're right, there are some scenes missing from the movie itself that were in the trailer. I'll have to go see the movie again but, wasn't there a scene where the crowd looks up, the camera's zooming out and it's really dramatic too?

I think I remember seeing that moment, when Superman falls, or maybe when he lifts the island out of the Earth or when he catches the Daily Planet's globe.
