They had a tree - a real one, decorated with ornaments and lights - and had strung lights up on the house and the front gate. There were decorations inside the house as well, and presents under the tree, and for all appearances it was a normal Christmas.
Jack wasn't whisking her away, and she didn't have to work - thanks to Winter Break - so it would be quiet, and normal. It would be nice. She was out running a few errands, and he was home, attempting not to burn the house down in the effort to make cookies. He'd just put a batch in the oven when he heard her pull into the garage, so he went to go meet her at the door.
