Two things:

1) Attention cast of $ (and anyone else, for that matter): are we gonna do more shooting this summer? I have an idea for a new script and already have parts cast for Owen Scott and Morgan Sweet. And I still think we should make ¢. Holla if you're up for it.

2) Today I cut my hair.

Oddly enough, Paul and I were talking about Old Boy tonight; I have to say that it looks incredibly good, but in my lazy research (I looked at about...one site) I couldn't find a subtitled version. Where did you get your copy from?

And I just realized that we talked about Twilight Samurai also...I think you may be psychic, Kokuten-san.

Anywho, yes, I've seen so many great Korean movies recently. I highly recommend Friend; it's been called a ripoff of Once Upon a Time in America, but I really don't think it matters. Regardless of plot, the acting and writing are both top notch, and the cinematography is some of the best I've seen (I'm not exaggerating when I say every scene is shot extremely well). I'd also recommend Guns & Talks, which is a pretty funny hitman movie with style to spare. Also, Attack the Gas Station is a really enjoyable movie, although I wouldn't call it a great piece of cinema. Kevin Yang also told me about a movie called Spark the Lighter which is supposed to be great, but I know nothing about it.

I'm glad someone else is excited about Hero; I think it could be really good. Jet Li doesn't get enough credit (mostly because of movies like Romeo Must die); you need to see Fist of Legend if you haven't already.

Your movie idea is awesome. I really hope you can make that, because I think it could be so much fun to both shoot and watch. I wish I read Hellboy so I could understand where it derives from. Can you direct my toward the reference?

Finally, you may know this, but Ryuhei Kitamura directed the cutscenes for Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes. Should be good.

Yesasia.com and aznfilms.com are both excellent websites when it comes to ordering DVDs from Asian countries. I ordered Old Boy from Yes Asia, which I find preferable for a couple of reasons, one being that they are far more trustworthy and they have way better prices. Old Boy costs 20 bucks on their site, not including shipping (which brings it to twenty four). Azn Films sells Old Boy for 26 before shipping, and there was a four dollar difference between the copy of Running on Karma Yes Asia was selling and the copy Azn Films was selling. I could go on. The one thing about Azn Films that I like over Yes Asia is the stock, since I can find more films on that site than Yes Asia. However, YA isn't only a DVD vendor-- they don't specialize merely in movies, they sell plenty of other cool Asian stuff too (and region-free DVD players). I went to see when the DVD release date for Casshern was, and of course nothing's up, but they had a nice looking polystone Casshern statue, for example. Azn Films, however, does specialize in Asian film. I can find Hero and Last Life in the Universe and The Quiet Family and more on their site. Try finding them on Yes Asia. The bottom line-- when I can order it on Yes Asia, I do, but Azn Films is also good.

Old Boy is really great...go here if you wish to see some cool. Also, Twilight Samurai was one of the best films I saw last year.

As to other Korean flicks, I've heard about Friend. Do you have a copy? Perhaps that should be on our movie-fest list...anything that is close to Once Upon a Time in America can't be that bad, after all. The other three sound really great, and I'll get around to checking them out eventually. It's kind of cool that you've got Kevin Yang to tell you about this kind of stuff. Not that I'm devastated that I have to look for news all on my own or anything, but...you know. Cool factor.

I'm mostly excited to see Jet Li and Donnie Yen go at it once more. Their match-up in Once Upon a Time in China II is absolutely incredible. Yowza!!! Fist of Legend is ALSO on my list...

I hope I can make it too. My friend Nayan desperately wants to make a movie before he graduates next year, so I think I may bang out a script over the summer and possibly go to Maryland to crash with my friends and build the restaurant set. Sadly, I haven't actually read that issue of Hellboy, as I'm weird with comic books and tend to only buy the graphic novel collections. It's better than having loose issues floating around, as I see it. Less to take care of, less to worry about.

Finally, you may know this, but Ryuhei Kitamura directed the cutscenes for Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes. Should be good.

They are good. That game is totally kickass.

Also, Owen, my movie may seem pedestrian, but that means it's got the right of way. So, you can't critically plow through the crosswalk of cinema with your SUV until the road is clear, Doctor Scott!!
