Snow more

Tuesday 19th November:

A surprisingly sprightly start. I gasped as I opened the curtains. It was snowing! Proper snow, dusting the shrubs and trees. I was very excited, mainly for Daisy. We had been talking about snow at the weekend and she couldn't remember ever having seen it. I have very fond memories of the three of us going out in the snow when she was a baby in happier times. *wistful sigh*

After breakfast and yoga ("Yoga For Loneliness" gee thanks, rub it in why don't you Adriene?) I decided to go outside and enjoy the snow. Sadly by the time I got round to it, it had all but vanished, replaced by drizzle. Instead, I experienced the beginnings of the quagmire seasons. The playing fields were very squelchy and my feet were sodden before I even crossed the first one. Still, good to get outdoors for at least a bit.

Work was a bit of a slog due to some unexpected difficulties with the multiple queries and other technicalities. This delayed progress an annoying amount, but I had a bit of inspiration in the afternoon and powered through until early evening.

The snow was a distant memory by now. To cheer myself up I ordered an umbrella that looks like a Tunnock's tea cake for Kate's Christmas. I hope she likes it. I know I do.

By evening I felt incredibly listless, failing to do my planned bedtime yoga, or indeed anything useful. Snuggled up with Uni, hot water bottle and the World at War. Now up to D-Day and the liberation of Paris. Surprisingly touching footage of Frenchwomen crying as their Bosche boyfriends are marched off to prison. 80 years ago now, it's weird to think the war will soon be beyond living memory.
