You're only in trouble if you get caught...
Of all places to go, Kirkwall was not the one Anders would have chosen, for the fact that it was positively crawling with templars, but there had been very few other places that he could manage to get to anymore, and putting an ocean between him and the templars at the Circle had felt like a really REALLY good idea just now. He would have tried to do something like it a LOT sooner, but he'd been locked in solitary for the past few months and hadn't exactly gotten the chance.
Now that they had let him out again, reluctantly, but they'd done it, and when Anders had stopped burrowing under his bed in the dormitory because he couldn't quite get used to all the space and air and LIGHT and noise, he'd decided that the only thing to do was get out of here again, and so he'd done his best.
Hard to believe, but he HAD learned from his last few attempts, in spite of what the first enchanter might have thought or begged of him when he got brought back in, and each of those lessons had gone into fueling things that made this attempt a whole lot better. The ship had been a whole new component, as had been the haircut, so he couldn't get caught in branches anymore, and the fact he'd ditched his robes early on, near a river, to make them think perhaps he'd drowned himself. It would keep them busy for a little while at least, and Kirkwall, well, no one would think to look for him here, now would they?
Of course, here he might get found by almost anybody else looking for an apostate mage, but right now he was free and breathing in the lovely pure funk of city air, and he didn't mind it in the least. He might have limped a little, from a fall he'd had earlier in the day, and his wrist hurt a good bit more, but he could actually find the time and place to heal them and to use his energy on it once he had found a place to stay.
Of course, the inn should probably be out of question, as far as staying, but he was hungry, and thirsty, and in the mood to sit down for a while. Might as well slip in there first and get the lay of the land right, huh?
