Dulsanaya received the note that a gift basket was needed for one she did not know, one she had not been introduced to, Aderyn Hawke. The little she did know indicated that that one was a mage, who like herself was broken. The stories that were told at the Hanged Man said that one had completed her story and it did not end happily. There was also a nugget of information about the mage keeping a pet spider.
Thinking about this, a glaring problem occurred to her. Although Wardens did not tend to mind another Warden talking in their heads, because after they were taught how, they could do it back, non-Wardens tended to get grumpy. And in order to talk to this broken mage, this one who was not a Warden, she would have to touch her. Worse, it was unknown what powers this broken mage had and this asha may be put in danger. Oh gods. Fen’Harel, avert your gaze from this da’sa. This one is not worth of your attentions.
She gathered things that mages tended to like, a potent lyrium potion [she had been saving this in case a mage ran out in an emergency] and some small pretty green river stones with lines of quartz running through them [some of the finest rocks in her collection]. Perhaps the spider would like to run around and play on the stones, follow the lines. The little elf never had a spider and did not know, but she knew that spiders in the wild like to run and play. Oh! A stick might be nice and she had just trimmed some branches from the Vhenadahl. The elf skipped out to cut off several nice young shoots from the downed limbs. Tying them with a green ribbon, she set them in the basket. Then picking leaves, she cushioned the goodies in the basket. Cookies and chocolates were always nice and Zevran had found a nice tin the other day. Going back to the kitchen, Dulsanaya put the other goodies in.
Just as she was ready to leave the Alienage, the healer remembered something, darted back to the house and came out tucking one of her new blank journals into the basket. If the mage forgot things, she could write them down, to help her remember. Confident that she had thought of everything, Dulsanaya followed the directions she had been given on the letter and knocked on the door.
