Kirkwall hadn't changed.
He hadn't been gone too long in the wider scheme of things, a few years maybe. But so much had changed since he had last walked the docks of the City of Chains. Too much perhaps. It made Kirkwall reassuringly familiar, and yet achingly seperate at the same time.
Still, if he lingered here, looking lost and pathetic, then he really would remember a warm Kirkwall welcome. With a shiv lodged in his ribs. He wanted to avoid that...if at all possible.
So he headed for Lowtown, deciding that he would check on people he once knew and see if he could purchase somewhere to stay for a time.
