Darn it, my PC just have to break down on New Year's Eve. Most likely soemthing on the southrbridge, the LAN controller chip and the 5V power line shorted out and it is refusing to even power up steadily now. My friend's motherboard faced a very similar fate as well earlier last month. These darned things don't last as well as old rigs anymore.
Time to hit SLS pretty soon and shop around for a semi-new rig! I was really hoping to save this amount of dough for next year (When AMD Bulldozer might rock things a little), but I guess it is almost inevitable at this point. Quad core here we go ...
[Edit: I've borrowed a friend's motherboard and PSU to test, and the results are even more confusing. It lights up but refuses to start. Ah heck, could both be faulty? There goes my chances of salvaging anything out of this.]
