Merry Christmas from the USCG

Dec 26, 2005 02:23

Well, guess how my Christmas was? I had to stand watch on the ship. Boo! It wasn't too bad. The cook wasn't there, but he hooked us watchstanders up with steak and lobster tails for us to cook. Yummy!

I did call home, and it sounds like everyone is having fun and seeing lots of friends. It was too bad not seeing my family, but I'm there in spirit.

Presents: I recieved a few from my family. My dad got me an episode guide to Mystery Science Theater 3000. My mom got me some very nice shirts, awesome fabric. She also got me a tourist's guide to Philladelphia. I got hooked up with World of Warcraft, by request of my sister. She got tired of telling me to pick up a copy and join in on the fun, so she got it for me.

I bought my family 3 presents. My mom got Reflections, by Apocalyptica. The CD is awesome, and what else does a metal head buy for someone who listens to classical violin music? She likes it. The other presents haven't arrived there yet, but Amy will get seasons 1 and 3 of Invader Zim. My dad will get the box set of The Muppet Show.

Funny story about that. I bought that for him on a whim. I know he was a fan of it back in the day. He watched it when it was new. He says Statler and Waldorf are his true heroes, and still makes refences to them. So I was talking to him just a few days ago, and he decided to give me a few tips on what to get him for the next present-giving occasion. He mentioned some Muppet Show memorabilia that he found online. This was long after I had purchased his present, so I'm wondering if Amy or I dropped to large of a hint at some point. If not, I think my present hit the nail on the head! I can't wait till my package gets there!
