Servant's Quarters, Room 5; Friday Afternoon.

In her possession, Evangeline actually had three steamer trunks full of mostly clothes. Currently, all three of them were open and being gutted like fish with to many lacy and leathery insides by the clawing hands of a little girl. She let out frustrated sounds as she dug into them, nearly falling in as the skirts and corsets and capes went ( Read more... )

Nadia had absolutely no reason to be the Servant's Quarters.

That did not stop her from happening to be there, though.

"Wow, you've got one hell of a 'costume' collection."

"They're not costumes," Evangeline said tersely as she sat in place, glaring at a plaid skirt from a certain school uniform that just happened to have had the misfortune of landing nearby.

Right, this was the girl who was several hundred years old or something. "Well, not when they were originally made and sold, but these days . . . they'd be considered costumes."

"I wear most of this sort of thing every day," Evangeline said, shifting her gaze toward Nadia with her tone indicating that she certainly hoped the girl wasn't insinuating that what Evangeline chose to wear were like costumes to her, although, really, she knew that they kind of were. But she liked all of it.

"Well," she added after a moment, regarding some outfits that seemed to be for a much....older body than the one Evangeline had, "not all of them."

Nadia had no problem with people wearing costumey things. She thought it was kind of cool, actually.

Considering who her boyfriend and best friend were, this shouldn't be surprising. "I think it's neat. But doesn't some of this stuff require two people to put on properly?"

Evangeline gave a small sigh. Lately, yes, that's what Chachamaru had been around for; how kind of Nadia to bring it back up again. Still, she'd lasted hundreds of years without the robot, so, she'd just have to return to that method, eh?

Idly, Evangeline began to mutter something, lac li lac lilac..., and idly gave a flick of her hand. A few seconds later, one of her many, many dolls, this one a simple marionette with strange, wide eyes, began to stir. Evangeline moved her hand to lift the doll; she pulled her hand back and it lurched forward; she brought her hand down a little and it landed. When Evangeline settled her arm back at her side, the marionette (it's strings, it would be notice, had been removed) started picking up the mess Evangeline had made.

"I manage," she said, noticing how drained even such a single spell had left her. It certainly wasn't the old days anymore, when she could do something like this effortlessly, practically in her sleep...

Nadia watched the marionette trick with little more outward reaction than a raised eyebrow. She had to wonder what kind of manual dexterity one of those things could possibly have.

"Apparently so. So. How are you liking our little village, here."

"I like that it's close enough to New Orleans," Evangeline said idly, with another sigh, another look around the room, "but I never thought I'd actually miss Mahora..."

Things had just started to get interesting there. For her, things had been more interesting there...She was closer to Konoe there, too, which meant closer to Springfield. She'd never find Na--

She grunted, closing her eyes. She wasn't going to allow herself to think of him now. She forced herself to remember what tomorrow was. The day before was always the hardest for her...

"I haven't actually been down to the city, yet. Just out and about around it."

"It's rather amazing, I have to admit," Evangeline said, a sudden spark glinting in her eyes. Her tongue briefly ran again her lower lip; it was as all those books that made her laugh with their pictures of vampires said. The blood there was rich.

Nadia noted the tongue thing and filed it away with the other information she'd gleaned from Evangeline so far. "Been down there a lot, then?"

"Not often," Evangeline answered, "but enough." She gave the barest glint of a smile. The topic of conversation was putting her in a better mood.

"Yeah? Hit up the French Quarter, or what?"

Evangeline nodded. "I got a good look at the whole place, really. I'm quite...efficient when I travel."

Nadia nodded. "Efficiency is good,"

"Especially when you don't have too much time to play," she added. With another nod.
