busy as a bee
despite the jet-lag induced cold i have, i've been pretty productive this week. i was able to get the mini presentation done for work in record time, which was encouraging. my boss seemed to like it. i also got reading done for school and was able to finish that book my prof lent me in only 2 days. tonight i have to stay after class to work with my group for our business's decisions and 5 year plan. plus i have a case study to do which i'm not looking forward to doing once i'm home since david is off and we're supposed to go running in buttes chaumont.
so leakhena is leaving next week. it's official. my best friend is going back to the states. when i talked to david about it last night it started a convo on my options and what i can do to stay here. i started reading up on the french law and nationalities etc. ideally y&r will realize my amazing talents and snatch me up. in the worst case scenario i will have to job hunt on my own. apparently though i just need a contract to get a work visa but it's like a catch-22 since company's won't hire usually unless you have the right to work in the first place. oddly enough i've eligable to get french nationality after 5 years of residency here. only 1more year to go! as leakhena said..."we hate the french but we'll be damned if they make us leave!!"
tomorrow i'm meeting leakhena after class for lunch at the thai place. i'm treating her with my ticket resto! then we're going to pick out a pair of sunglasses for her..way to fuck the french insurance system!
---interruption to talk about this dude that works in the closed office in front of me. he seems real important and is definitely like 30 + years old but has some odd charm about him and i think it's reciprocal. whatever. speaking of workplace men, olivier came by to see me. he just got in from new york this morning. despite not getting any sleep he still looked cute as ever. but whatever.
saturday is supposed to be pretty nice again (this whole week it's been sunny and around 60) so i think david and i will go to cergy or clichy (i can't remember which suburb area !) to do some aquatic sports acitivities like wake boarding and shit. don't ask but apparently we can do it. and then in the evening we're supposed to get together with lamine and leakhena so they can finall meet up. sunday i'll have to go to school to work on a sculpture..funnnn. there's also the possibility that i will meet up with someone from decayenne. i probably shouldn't but whatever...
speaking of what i probably shouldn't do....guillaume called me the other day. he had just gotten back from senegal. i was expecting his call but it still caught me off guard. he was all ready to see me and asked when, to which i had to tell him it wasn't possible. i should have been more direct, more forceful. after all, i know that anything with him is soo over, now that i know david and i are awesome. i would never want guillaume to come between us but i guess there's that whole 'closing doors on the past' thing that i can't seem to get over. i like to keep my options open..which is stupid cause he's sooo not even an option anymore. so i told him that i'm with someone else and that's pretty much it. i felt bad cause i know he was disappointed. then again he could also just be jealous and looking for a shag.
since i'm an open book with david, i told him what happened. i told him what i said and even that i felt bad (why?!?!). i like have to admit everything to him which is good and bad. i know that hurt david to hear it but at the same time i think he appreciates my honesty and that i have nothing to hide. really, nothing. sooo whatever. i'm going to get my picture screen printed on a teeshirt and giving it to david as a gift. it sounds dumb but i'm going to a photo inverted to black and white and then have the outline screenprinted so it looks like a design and not ME staring out of his chest. lamine did it for leakhena for xmas and it was an awesome idea. and cheap.
