The
library section of Alcor the worlds leading cryonics organisation (cryogenics being the term for mucking around at low temperatures, cryonics being freezing dead people) , is seething mass of ethical, moral, verging on sci-fi craziness. Apparently there are currently only 67 people in the world held in cryogenic storage. Most people frozen before 1973 were thawed out and buried by their families or simply allowed to defrost by the companies who had been paid to freeze them. Against all odds the first 'cryonaut' is still around, a
Dr.James Bedford in frozen 1967. He was moved out of his container to a newer one in 1991 during which they decided to
have a look to see if he'd gone moldy. Apart from being dead for 24 years he was in good condition. Theres also a
letter to Dr.Bedford explaining whats happened to him from the man whos been taking care of him since then, should he ever wake up. Spooky.
