Year in Review: 2008
I'm kind of late posting this here, but I figured why not.
Here is my Fanfic Review for 2008.
But I also have a few original fic accomplishments that I didn't discuss there.
In 2008, I saw a significant drop in my original fic writing. One might blame that on the fanfic, which is what I initially did, but then I realized my fanfic has significantly dropped too. 2008 was a HARD year for me. I am hoping for better in 2009.
Still, despite the slump I managed to write 3 short stories. Two are still out there and one was rejected, but made it to the second to last level of judges in that contest. I also started and nearly finished a manuscript in 2008 which I am continuing to work on.
I did have one short story, written in 2007, published in an anthology in 2008. This anthology did include a book signing event which was exciting and scary at the same time.
I'm really aiming to get more done in 2009. It's just hard because I have a lot of external rela life stressors that sort of throw my concentration. It's hard to write when you are in a constant state of worry.
So maybe if I can make a word count goal every day it won't be so bad in the end :)
