Reviewing 2008
I feel motivated to add my list of 2008 accomplishments to the previous ones, because maybe reviewing what (little?) I have done before will inspire me to achive the same (but hopefully more) in 2009.
The list includes everything fanfic-related of mine that made it to the internets; half-finished and nearly-finished drafts cluttering up my drawer remain disregarded.
Let's try this number thing:
mayachain's writing accomplishments 2008
In 2008, mayachain posted twenty-one fanfic posts to her name, which made up eight seperate stories; five one-shots, two that were the flip-sides of each other, and one long mini-series in nine parts with five prequels, missing scenes and sequel-ish snippets.
The total word count this amounts to is ~22300, which is no wonder seeing as the word count in each post varies from ~500 to ~3000. The Rebuilding Burned Bridges universe is now 12063 words long.
mayachain wrote in three different fandoms: Three Stories for Harry Potter, three for X-Men Movieverse, and two for Supernatural. One was a remix of a story written by someone else, two were twin parts of a character's birthday challenge, and three were written under the incredible creative pressure that was mini_nanowrimo.
The loudest laugh was had while writing Smartest Drake (X-Men Movieverse). It was the first crack story I ever wrote, and among the readers at dry_ice, it was a little success.
Anxiety was high while writing Stairway from nowhere (Supernatural), and didn't really ebb off afterwards, since it seemed to fo right over many readers' heads and there was angst galore.
Writing Love, Interrupted (Harry Potter, the remix of darsynia's For Love) was the most challenging project taken on this year, I think - totally worth it, I had such a great time.
I feel the most accomplished about posting the successive parts of Rebuilding Burned Bridges (X-Men Movieverse), partly because it literally took me ages to get to the point where each of the first nine parts felt right and the story was finally finished, partly because it's the first time I'm able to later on explore my own universe - as much as anything in the context of fanfic can ever count as one's own universe.
On that note, while I'm curious to se where things are going with Babysteps onto a Rebuilt Bridge, the St John-centric prequel is perhaps my favorite of them all.
