Raiel had flown before, of course, but it hadn't been like that. Different. Everything here was so different. He spent the flight staring down at the earth through the window and missing Firebird.
The trip itself was mostly a blur. It flew by while barely registering to his consciousness. When they finally walked through the door of their new home was when reality snapped back to him.
He stopped in the entry way while Garnet sank to the couch, and just stared at the spartan space that was theirs now.
And then, after a long silence, he said, "We should paint the walls green."
Garnet blinked her eyes open again. A moments pause as she registered what he'd said... and then, she laughed. Quietly, dry, tired, but a laugh none the less.
"We've been traveling all day, barely been here two minutes, and you're thinking about painting?"
