...at the Republican party.
I am not a Republican. I am not a Democrat. They both piss me off for different reasons, but this is new.
To put the current situation in perspective, I liked Newt Gingrich. He said what he stood for and largely stuck with it. A lot of what Democrats like to crow about as "the Clinton legacy" is either stuff he didn't do at all or stuff that the Republican congress made him do. There never was (and probably never will be) a fiscally responsible government, but Gingrich Republicanism at least paid some real homage to the concept.
The Republicans have abandoned that now. Even all pretense is gone. They are the new party of tax and spend...except they don't even bother to tax which is even worse. This pisses me off, but that's just standard stuff really. (Hypocrisy in politicians? Do tell!) They've had to go beyond that to really make me mad.
It is now clear to me that we can't afford to give Bush a friendly congress these last two years of his Presidency. He is completely out of control. Goodness knows what he will do. I hate, hate, hate to vote based on party control of congress. My usual response to a political party talking to me about how important it is that they regain control is to yawn and note that they are just one of two stupid political parties. So the fact that Republicans are making me do this makes me more pissed off. But this isn't the capper of the affair.
What is really the last straw, the final indignity is the consequence of this. These fuckers have actually made me CONSIDER VOTING FOR JIM MORAN! This is unforgivable. Damn them! Damn their eyes! Damn their soft dangly bits! Damn them all to hell!
