Beware, beware, a marching band rant....
OMFG. Could the band suck any more and could those idiot freshmen in the guard be any more RUDE?
Okay. So we started practice off today with runthroughs. Or tried to. The first one, by the end of the first number, the music had slowed down so much it was practically a funeral march. So we started over. The next SIX TIMES, I exaggerate not, We had to go back after only four sets and start over. Because over half of the band a)doesn't know their music, and/or b) can't march for shit and can't play to the front or back instead of the endzones. Now keep in mind, when the band resets at the beginning, all they have to do is go back to the first set. The guard, on the other hand, must reset its equipment and then run back to opening set. and WE get yelled at for holding the band up. Well excuse fucking me. Maybe if the band knew what it was doing, we could do our runthroughs continuously and not have to worry about fucking reseting every five seconds.
We finally get to the end of a runthrough, even though it still sucks. On Saturday, Phil told us to not do the last two sets of work he had taught us because it had not been cleaned yet and looked like a hot holy mess. So we didn't. After the runthrough, Roemer goes, "Do you not have work at the end of the show, or do you just not know it?" Now, it's kind of both...so he asks those of us who know the work to do it "next time." One of the OTHER things I can't stand about Roemer is how he thinks the guard works just like the band. In a section of the band, if one or two people don't know their music, they can usually not play and it will sound the same. In the guard, if five people are doing the work and the other 23 aren't, it looks like steaming hot shit on a stick.
We break up into sectionals.
What fun that was.
There are these two freshmen, both named Britney, whom I cannot STAND. They don't come to practice, they don't know their work, and they get bitchy when people try to tell them what they should be doing, or tell them to NOT TALK WHILE WE'RE LEARNING WORK. GAH DUHR. They blatantly, and I mean blatantly disregard any respect at all for upperclassmen. When they were told to respect the upperclassmen, the captains, etc, THEY SAID "NO."
WHY DO THEY EVEN COME?!?
Granted, I'm not a big fan of Kristen Sano. We all know that. I can live with Emily and Amber, but they're not my favourite people in the whole world either. Nevertheless, they are our captains, and I fucking listen when they tell me to do something. News flash, ladies: they only get bitchy when you don't listen to instructions.
