Sewings.

In the past when I did cosplay for cons, there was always this certain stretch of time before the deadline that I just buckled down and worked nonstop for HOURS. Depending on the complexity, of course, this stretch of time varied. Sango took about a week, but that was only because my mom did most of it. Since, you know, her sewing machine hated me to bits. Miroku took...geez, almost a month. I had a truce with the sewing machine, I had already worked with the pattern, and it was even somewhat easier to do this time around...but then I had that horrible trouble with his staff that never quite got worked out...which is why I've retired that particular costume ^^; Last year I didn't cosplay for a variety of exceptional reasons, but now I'm gettin' back into the groove, and tonight encompassed most of my Pre-Con Cosplay Stretch this year. Since, well, I did choose Cooking Mama mostly for her simplicity. And then because I luff her. And then because I have the hair for it. Everything else is mostly irrelevant, isn't it? =P And also because I have my own sewing machine now and it loves me so. Hee. :)

Yesterday I went with assume_a_virtue and gryfeathr to Burlington Coat Factory and picked up the jeans and the white collared shirt, and earlier this week I got the fabric for the rest of it. Today I sewed up everything but the pocket on the apron, which requires more thought than I'm capable of giving it right now @_@ And it was great because I worked...from about 1 PM to 6 PM without glancing up, without eating. I didn't even notice I was hungry until my mom came upstairs to heat up some leftovers. This may be the solution to my snacking problem >> Erm. Anyway, it was fun. Mom helped me decipher the pattern a little, and then I got to play around by myself, putting the apron together and then the bandanna and painting the latter with SPARKLES! I just barely had enough, too. Which is good because I really didn't want to have to go back to Joann Fabrics just for another bottle of $0.50 sparkly fabric paint. (I kid you not.)

After I lose more weight and overcome my fear of wigs (and/or hair dye), I really want to try for Kanmuri next year. Because he is Food Science Extraordinaire, and because I love him second best of all the Yakitate!! characters. He's right behind Kawachi, but I could never ever pull Kawachi off. Ever. And I'm somewhat okay with that XD;;

...mmm ramble ramble. I should be sleeping now. Phht.
