.iv. [Stupid Old Men]

Sometimes I just can't stand them!

I mean honestly; I wouldn't have even gone if it wasn't a mandatory thing, and then I find out that it's for that crap? And really, I could of taken it if it was the usual load; "A Lady should dress as her station dictates" or " A Lady should not be gallivanting around the city doing grunt work in her own establishments" or (my favorite) "A Lady should not ride a motorcycle!"

But no. I should've realized something was up when they all gave me that collective, speculative sort of stare as I walked in. The bunch of stuffy old men actually looked nervous, which I figured must've been a trick of my imagination.

And then The Chairman (oldest of them all) gave an uncomfortable cough and said: "Yako." It was then I knew I was in it deep for whatever reason, because none of them ever use my given name; EVER.

"Yako," he said again, now making me nervous too, "When you first took over your position, you were a child, and in these past three years you have done an exceptionally admirable job, as well as becoming a...mature young woman." Compliments! He was complimenting me. I had to pinch myself to make sure I wasn't dreaming at this point. "And--er. As you've recently become of the proper age, we...believeyoushouldbeginlookingforahusband." The old geezer blurted it out, like he'd reprimanded me for countless times. But he wasn't quite done, either. "And...procureanheir."

Well. Now I knew why everyone was nervous. The last time they brought those stupid subjects up I was thirteen and threw a fit. And a letter opener.

Which I should have done this time too; but sadly they learned from their previous mistakes.

So, there was three hours down the drain, consisting of them trying to get me to become a trophy wife/brood mare, and me basically just laughing and shutting them down.

Ugh. Marriage? Heirs?

No thank you, sirs.

old geezers, three hours i will never get back, i am not a brood mare, hubby?, baby?, i am not a trophy wife either, i think not, ahahahano, pushy, not ready for that
