It isn't exactly a secret that I lead kind of a crazy life here at SC, going on one adventure after another, meeting crazy people and doing crazy stuff. Once in a while, I have an adventure so completely outrageous that I feel like I have to write about it here, so now, for your enjoyment, is a brief summary of the events taking place between Saturday night and Monday morning this past weekend.
The evening began early. It was a saturday at the end of February, 2006. It began with a phone call from my friend who had been arrested not four months earlier for reasons indiscloseable here, though it hardly matters to mention it anyway. She wanted to meet up for dinner. We were to meet at TGIFriday's, specifically, Magic Johnson's TGIFriday's, nestled comfortably between Culver City and Inglewood California, at precisely 7:30. On the way there, I picked up my friend John, who had just the morning before finished wrapping his first completely independant short film. We drove for 23 minutes and arrived at exactly 7:30. While we were eating, we enjoyed some colorful martinis, and I recieved a phone call with an insistant invitation to a party at Judd's flat in Hollywood. After dinner, John and I parted ways with Asia and continued back up to campus, where we piced up our friend Seth and headed up the 101.
When we arrived, we were greeted by Judd and his friends from Detroit (I learned recently the the word "detroit" is french for "strait, or river"). Judd and his very attractive entourage of girlfriends, who were very nice, decided that they were going to CineSpace, a club on Hollywood Blvd. My company was not so sure they wanted to spend the money for a cover (which can often be between $10 and $20), we decided after a while to part company with them, and to chill with Mark, Desiree and her brother (whose name I believe is Andrew?). We all changed our cell phone ringers for some reason to "Final Countdown" by Europe, made famous by Arrested Development. After a lovely round of a few bowls and champagne, we left hollywood, and I took John and Seth home. By now its about 2:30, and Dominic calls asking me to chill with her, Sara and Heather, with whom, and among a few others, I had spent the previous weekend with in Vegas. We polished off a handle of Jack Daniels that I had bought at the Venetian in Vegas (which, by the way, is dead to me and to several others). We went back out to visit some friends of their's who live on Portland. While there we made kind of a lot of noise since we had been up for some time and were pretty well lit. We woke up their friend's roomate, a girl named Amber, and decided we'd be better off going down to my car and hotboxing. Somehow, we decided it be a good idea to return to Heather's apartment, along with Amber, and see The Dark Side of Oz, which, though I'm glad to have now finally seen after SO MUCH hype over the years, was at best a little dissapointing. I've cut films to Pink Floyd that match up better on accident. While we were watching it my buddy Kevin called me and told me that he and a couple of his friends were heading to his friend Paige's place downtown, so Dominic Heather and I go to join them.
Its pushing 5 or 6 in the morning at this point on Sunday, and we meet up with Kevin, Arriana (a UCLA psych major) and a random hispanic dude who was with them at Paige's building downtown. We partied for a few hours, Dominic and Heather passed out, and Kevin and I take the random hispanic dude on an errand to East LA. We can't find what we were looking for, to our mild dissapointment, and drop the random hispanic dude off at a bar. We return to Paige's, where, after some thinking, everyone decides to hit the pool. Being without both a swimsuit and towel, I go back to my place. its now around 10 in the morning, and I crash for 45 minutes. I am awoken from my nap by the sound of someone opening my front door. Its my brother and two of his friends. Somehow my brother always shows up at my apartment, unannounced, and with people, while I am sleeping and often in my underwear. Not so cool, but what can you expect from a frat guy ;-) (p.s. Ross - seriously man, CALL ME before you do that shit, its so obnoxious.)
Anyway, so I leave my brother and his friends to whatever the hell they came over to do (something to do with housing I think) and return to Paige's building. By now, Kevin Arriana and Paige were over with Pool time and wondering where the hell I had dissapeared to, so I decided to take Dominic and Heather home. Paige came along, and we ran an errand similar to the one Kevin and I had attempted before, only this one was slightly more successful. We returned with our new prize around noon, and spent the entire day drinking, enjoying our discovery, playing Cranium for some reason, engaging in philisophical debate, and listening to excellent old school rock. As day became night, the events became more and more debauched and absurd. James Mainland stopped by and got to see it for himself, and he'd agree, it got pretty crazy. Movies started being played that no one was really watching, like the Breakfast Club and Real Genius and Waynes World. Arriana got beligerently drunk and eventually chronically topless, and Kevin clearly had no idea what was going on, which eventually left Paige and I the only ones awake at 2 Monday morning. So we stayed up, drank a really expensive bottle of wine that Mr. Jon Forman (a gentleman and scholar) had given me a couple days previous, and played the Nintendo Game Cube game that involved donky kong and bongos. This was the official end of the evening I suppose, though a little more happened, including a revisiting of Baz Lehrman's Romeo and Juliet. The rest is not appropriate to mention publicly, though I will say that there is nothing quite like sleeping on satin sheets.
Two weekends in Vegas, in a row is pretty hardcore, but even that does not trump the glorious ride this past weekend played out to be. Three cheers to all the wonderful people in my life that made these past weekends possible and memorable, especially Jon (Forman), John (Cleland), Dominic, Heather, Sara, Judd, Mark, Desiree, Kevin, Arriana, and a special fourth cheer to Paige, who let us party in her house like Hollywood was going out of style for over 24 hours straight. Thanks guys.
Peace and Love ;-) A bientôt!
