Please Don't Let Me Regret This Tomorrow - Knight Rider mirror universe, April x KARR

Jul 09, 2011 15:29

There had been a going away party for Miss Barstow, but KARR hadn't been invited. Truthfully, the (former) Trans AM wasn't all that surprised-the humans in attendance of said going away party generally didn't care for her company. Well… Michael did, to some degree, given that he was her partner, but he still didn't want her there, which hurt, given that she had been nursing a crush on him for some months now. Her only other human contact who cared about her in any manner, April Curtis, had tried to convince Bonnie, but…

KARR shivered in the backseat of her Trans AM shell and shifted her attentions back to her book, trying to push away the memory of the ugly bruises on April's arms she'd gotten when she asked.

The garage door opened and closed, and KARR looked up at the clock; it was nearly midnight now. Who was working in this bay at this hour? She glanced out the window, and couldn't help but grin-the young blonde woman closing the door behind her may have been employed by the Foundation, but she certainly wasn't on the clock. KARR opened the door and slipped out of the backseat, waving her hand slightly to catch the other woman's attention. "April!"

April looked up and grinned, adjusting the strap on the bag hanging off her shoulder. "Hi, KARR," she greeted, speaking and signing.

"What are you doing here?" KARR asked, returning the courtesy of signing as well as speaking.

"Party's over," April replied. "Michael and Devon taking her to San Francisco."

KARR didn't address that no one bothered to tell her they'd be leaving after the party. She was used to that, and it's not like she told anyone where she was going to be anyway… but it still stung a little. "Was the party nice?"

"Okay," April fingerspelled before speaking again. "I missed you, though."

KARR smiled softly. She and April were friends, possibly the only friend the other had… close friends… sometimes a little too close, it seemed. KARR was, first and foremost, a car, and at present an AI in a CPU in a very expensive human shell; April was her technician. But it went beyond that-KARR was struggling to sort out her feelings for Michael, and the strange flutter in her emotional center when she and April were together; April was in a relationship with Miss Barstow… even though it was a dangerous, abusive one that pained KARR to see April go through. Sometimes it seemed like April was her friend, other times her sister, and still other times like she wanted to be with her-it was all so much to take in…!

She pushed the thoughts away. "I missed you too," she signed.

April hugged her briefly before pulling away. "Look what I have," she said, opening the bag. She pulled out a bottle of what KARR could only guess was very fine, very expensive alcohol, some kind of wine. "We can have our own party."

"Now?" KARR asked in disbelief. "Here?"

April nodded. "No one will know," she whispered conspiratorially.

"Where did you get that?" KARR asked.

"Devon gave to Bonnie," the human explained.

KARR's heart jumped. "You steal it from Miss Barstow?" she signed, horror shaping her features.

"Bonnie hates reds," April answered, pointing to the label, which did proclaim that the bottle's contents were a red wine. "She gave to me."

"What condition?" KARR signed. She couldn't claim to know all the details of Miss Barstow and April's relationship (and truthfully, she was afraid to know), but she knew Miss Barstow never gave gifts to April without wanting something in return.

"Be faithful," April signed back, heading toward the black and silver Trans AM that had been, a few weeks ago, KARR.

KARR decided she didn't want to know what would happen to them if Miss Barstow knew about April's tendency to give KARR little kisses on the cheek or forehead when no one was around, or to sneak into the garage late at night after she'd had a rough day or needed a sympathetic ear, and climbed into the backseat after April.

April laid the bottle between them and pulled out two wine glasses, both of them wrapped in cloth napkins to protect them from being damaged. She passed one of the glasses to KARR, and pulled out a corkscrew. After a moment, the cork popped out of the mouth of the bottle; April smiled and held the bottle out to KARR, signing for her to smell it.

KARR leaned forward and sniffed tentatively. She pulled away, wrinkling her nose. "Smells like it went bad," she told her companion honestly.

"All wine is," April answered, pouring herself a glass. "Grape juice that went bad."

"Why drink it?" KARR asked, offering April her own glass.

"Taste good," April replied, shrugging as she filled the AI's glass. "Alcohol in it is okay." She re-corked the bottle and lay in the front passenger seat. She grinned at KARR and held up her glass slightly.

KARR smiled back, and they clinked glasses together. The AI took a small sip of the liquid. It tasted like fruit juice, with a not entirely unpleasant aftertaste. She took another small sip. "Why are you so happy tonight?" she asked.

April sipped her wine, thinking. "Bonnie gone," she fingerspelled. "I get space."

KARR nodded sadly, reflecting on the state of her friend's life when she was happy that her lover was leaving her for the year.

April caught the look, and patted KARR's knee. KARR looked up, and April smiled at her. She couldn't help but smile back before she took another sip of wine.

The pair remained in the Trans AM's backseat, quietly chatting about anything that wasn't their lives or their work, and drinking the wine. KARR couldn't have known it, but April had already had a fair amount of wine at the party before, which helped her get to a state of mild intoxication all the quicker. The AI, on the other hand, had no previous exposure to alcohol, and quickly became just as tipsy.

The wine was half gone when they clumsily wrapped their glasses in the napkins and put them back in April's bag, which she laid on the front seat. "Th-thank you, April," KARR said suddenly, the words coming out slurred.

"For what?" April asked, her voice raised slightly.

KARR ran her hand though her short hair, trying to wrangle her muddled thoughts. "For everything," she soldiered on. "You're-you're wonderful to me."

April smiled, and leaned in to lay her hand on KARR's. "Y-you are, too…"

Even sober, they couldn't be sure what caused it or who initiated, but it happened-arms wrapped around shoulders, lips pressed together with something resembling… urgency. After a moment, they broke away, blinking at each other through the haze of the alcohol.

"S-Sorry," KARR signed clumsily.

"Don't be sorry…" April murmured, laying a hand on KARR's shoulder.

"But Bonnie-" KARR began feebly. "Faithful…"

April laid a finger on KARR's lips, shaking her head. "Bonnie not here," she whispered, leaning in and kissing KARR again, this time deliberately.

KARR blinked in confusion and surprise for a moment, before closing her eyes and kissing April in return, wrapping her arms around the technician and pulling her close.

April broke away to draw a shaking breath, but quickly kissed her again, laying her hand on KARR's cheek. KARR deferred to April's lead, keeping her arms around April's waist and letting out a soft whine of approval when April's teeth grazed her lower lip. April smiled into the kiss at the sound, and lightly nipped at KARR's lower lip again.

Despite having no frame of reference, KARR was trying to return the kisses April was giving her in earnest. Her hand came up to rest on April's cheek, her fingers brushing against the other's woman's hearing aid.

Up to now, April's arms had been wrapped around KARR's shoulders; now, she withdrew them and took the AI's hands in hers, guiding them to the row of pearly pink buttons on her blouse. She let go of KARR's hands long enough to sign a single word: "Touch."

KARR broke away slightly, looking up from her hands to April's flushed face. Her own cheeks and nose were already red from the wine and subsequent intoxication, but she knew she was blushing. "April…?"

"Please touch me," April signed again.

KARR looked back to the buttons, and, with shaking fingers, started to unbutton the blouse. After a few moments, she undid the last button and pushed the material to either side, taking in April's figure. She was thin, an athletic build with humble breasts. KARR found her eyes drawn to April's breasts, and frowned when she saw that they were bruised. "Bonnie?" she signed.

April nodded sadly, clearly embarrassed. KARR felt guilt twinge across her consciousness for bringing April down, and, without thinking, leaned in to brush her lips against one of the bruises.

April arched her back slightly and hummed a tone of approval. KARR glanced up at her; although her vision was far from clear at the moment, the look of pleasure on April's face was undeniable. She turned her head slightly and kissed one of the other bruises decorating April's breasts. Again, the other woman arched and made a small sound of enjoyment. KARR couldn't help but smile between the kisses at the sound.

April ran her fingers through KARR's hair and leaned back, until she was lying on her back and KARR was bent over her, still brushing kisses against her bruised skin. KARR started working her way up, kissing her collarbones and throat and neck. When she pulled back, April reached up and started to unbutton the AI's blouse. Her fingers, though not as nimble thanks to the alcohol, quickly worked their way down and had the shirt open in seconds.

One of the reasons KITT had rejected the body KARR now inhabited, was because it wasn't slender enough to suit her tastes. Indeed, when KARR inherited it, she walked away from the process a plus-sized woman. She was terribly shy about it, and was currently trying to get the blouse to cover her body. April reached up and knocked her hand away, watching the material fall and taking in KARR's shape. "So beautiful…" April murmured, pulling KARR down into a kiss.

KARR pulled back, looking away. "No…" she signed. "Too fat."

April turned KARR's gaze back to hers, shaking her head and running her hands down KARR's side and hips. "Like your hips," she murmured. Her hands slid up KARR's sides now before dipping inward to run her fingertips over KARR's breasts. "Perfect size."

KARR blinked at her. She… liked her size? The words touched KARR in a way she didn't even know was possible, and she leaned down to kiss April deeply, curves pressed desperately against curves.

When Michael drank, her usually regretted what he'd done the night before; KARR could only hope that tomorrow morning, she wouldn't regret this.
