today i would like to take on a more serious note. pat tillman, a former arizona cardinal, died today fighting in afghanistan carrying out a mission as a special forces ranger. this man gave up millions of dollars as a professional football player after 9/11 to fight for his country. and in fact, before that, refused a contract almost double what was his current one because of loyalty to his team.
this is a man who, along with his brother who gave up what might have been a professional baseball player, disregarded material wants, and did what he felt was right, defending his freedom. we should all take a man like this as an example; along with his wife, who has always been strong, both who refused interviews and publicity while pat enlisted.
rest in peace pat tillman, i cannot say enough about how grateful we are to you, and fellow soldiers for putting your country before anything else.
