Entry III : Getting down to the price of it all

Apr 24, 2009 15:17

As of today, I've gotten almost all of the needed pieces to construct my corset. I'm missing. Here is what I got today what I thought of each purchase and what I need to take back.

First off, my pliers. I read that these were decent pliers and I have to disagree. I tried them out and they suck. I'm going back later today to get an exchange because they truely are worth nothing in terms of cutting boning

The Next one was the grommet setting kit and the grommets themselves. I love these, they work well, and the kit works well provided you don't try to start hammering with a rubber mallet on a wooden desk (I don't have a big metal desk, so I wound up hammering in the kitchen)

Right now I don't have an awl, so I used a combo of a sharp metal bead tool and some scissors for now, I'll get an awl when I head up to the fabric store for the other things I need. I then used the grommet kit to place the grommet on the fabric.

I love this mallet, it's simple, works for me and doesn't ruin the metal top to my grommet kit.

This doesn't have to do with anything sewing wise, but if you;re like me, your hands will ache. I have used this for ages and It's a miracle for me. You can't find it at wall mart, walgreens, cvs and other places.

So I'd like to ask my viewers what they think fo this all so far? Is this helpful at the moment or do you think I'm missing anything? Please leave feedback on this entry so I can better help others and be more specific if need be.

Next entry, I work on the mockup!.

Update....I went and got a different set. They were two dollars cheaper and the hardware store dude told me these were a great investment because they last long and are from a good company. I tried them and I gotta say I'm impressed. need a little muscle but they cut well.
