Agreed, Chris. This weekend was good.
Hayao Miyazaki should not just get "awards." He should be given the right to be a god. No one else can create such amazin' stuff out of nowhere. He's got the magicks! After a good amount of thought given to it, I can safely say that Spirited Away wins. Laputa, Princess mononoke and Totoro are tied at number 2. I just can't decide. Kiki's Delivery Service is very cute, but it severly lacks some of those crazy Hayao characters. (I.E. Kodama, Robots, totoros, dust bunnies, forest spirits, river gods, dragons...etc.) It was just that talking cat. It lacked creativeness. Now, this may be exactly why I like spirited away the best....There was just a fucking party of crazy ass magic stuff going on. I swear to god, my eyes were sparkling throughout the whole movie. When I saw Laputa today, I was like HOLY SHIT when they finally landed on the city. I was like HOLY CHRIST ALMIGHTY...this is beautiful...LOOK AT THE ROBOT...aND THE GRASS and ::drools:: It seriously makes me want to cry, because Hayao Miyazaki can turn anything I have ever imagined/dreamed about/wished for into reality (at least on a tv). ::shrugs:: God material, methinks.
