Isn't it a lovely day.

Happy Mum's Day!

it's been awhile since I've actually been able to post. The end of the school year is always crazy. And with two boys in the house who both like doing well on their tests, we are constantly quizzing each other throughout the day.
But we get out of school in 2 weeks, so there will be lots of posting then. i promise. :)

Yesterday Nick and I visited our favorite 10th grade lass, Katie at her bird store. i wanted to buy me mum something that she'd never think to get herself. We got her a 'lady bug' house and a hummingbird feeder which we cleverly placed in our backyard last night. (it was a chore trying to be discreet about that. me mum is always on the look out. quite annoying really...)
This morning she went outside to water her plants and saw the very pretty yellow lady bug house. I thought she was going to piss in her pants she was so excited. and she loved the hummingbird feeder (she kept checking throughout the day to see if there were any hummingbirds out. we saw one, and her heart nearly dropped out of her body).

We also made her dinner.
I was proud of myself, I made one of her favorite dishes. It was bloody hard too, it took all afternoon to make.
I made her: Arbroath smokies with a risotto of peas, pancetta and leek, and finished with a poached egg.
My mum almost started crying, it made both of us miss home a lot. But apart from our homesick moment, it was absolutely delicious (if I do say so myself).

Another thing. This afternoon (before i started my stark raving mad cooking rampage) Nick and I went to a floral arrangement store, picked up a bunch of flowers that Nick had ordered earlier in the week, and drove over to Nick's old house. We dropped the flowers off on the front porch for Nick's mum.
I nearly cried. he's such a caring lad, this is why I love him so much.

I have to go. it's time to take Nick's mind off chemistry (like he so wonderfully did for me last night). :D
