I wrote an actual song today, and for the first time EVER, I started and finished the lyrics and music in one day.
It's called Lamontagne Lodge, these are the lyrics:
Lamontagne Lodge
Starving for music thirsty for air
I'm tired of living under the stairs
Do you wanna come with me, do you wanna break out?
Close your eyes, spin around and shake it about
So much highway, so much open road
Several thousand ways to leave my home
I feel safer in this basement room
Watching you move the way you do
Took it turn by turn, spoke it word by word
Each one came easier than the last
Touch of gold, hint of july
Thinking it through as I dim the lights
This is mission impossible, hooray
Success is an abstract goal
And I've heard it kills the soul
What a payoff for focusing intently
Still on the sofa, waiting to die
Fatal concussion, from a pop fly
These awkward phrases sound the same
It's just the sequence and the frame
I'm recording it tomorrow morning at Dusty's after summer school. Written and recorded within two days, I've never done anything that fast. I'm really excited.
